December 8, 2022 at 12:34 pm #1205183674Rihanna has for sure a deal with the other songwriters of her song in order to make her credit legit, but we all know she’s not a songwriter at all.

Type in Ester Dean into YouTube and you’ll see that Rihanna sings exactly how the demo was sung. She doesn’t even do vocal arrangements, which count as songwriting. Rihanna is one of the great popstars and I’m happy that she is back but she is not and never has been a song writer. I love Rihanna for what she is but I will not pretend that she is something that she is not.
December 8, 2022 at 4:05 pm #1205184216I think her and Coogler’s credits are bogus lol. They both know one of the easiest ways for them to get an Oscar is through BOS.

The fact that she stayed almost 7 years without releasing new music is very telling about how much she cares about her music career, she definitely prefers being an Avon lady which honestly fits her better than being a popstar.

2023:
"TAR", "Banshees","Batman"December 8, 2022 at 11:03 pm #1205184661Rihanna will get the nomination. There’s no scandal with her credits y’all are looking to deep into it. The Academy has nominated & awarded 4 ppl before.
Vegas consistently being on these noms is the real talking point. Seems like vast majority think it will qualify and sit along Lift Me Up, Hold My Hand, Naatu Naatu as the likely 4 that will continue to get nominations throughout the season. Leaving slot 5 open to whoever
On another note out of all the Popstar contenders Taylor Swift is the only one actively campaigning as of now. Although she’s likely gunning for Short Film I’m sure these type of interviews will add to her visibility in BOS

This is embarrassing 🤣 Not her doing the #directorsondirectors along with a veteran filmaker just for having directed a bland music video, is she for real? 🤣 😭

I personally think Rihanna will get nominated, but I just want to point out there doesn’t have to be a scandal associated with the credits for the Academy to give her the boot. The Academy will simply look at the percentages and determine if she’s eligible.
All of these award shows and groups don’t have the same strict eligibility rules as the Oscars so ‘Vegas’ being nominated is not indicative of what these bodies think the Oscars will do. With so many big-names in contention, they’re just name checking for the clicks.
Taylor’s desperation has been really off-putting in this regard. The Short Film category is often used for small, upcoming directors to get their “foot into the door” and she’s using her position of high privilege and power to potentially knock a new director out of the bunch all because it’s never enough for her. Why not work hard and build your reputation within the industry piece by piece? Why take the easy route in the hopes your ego gets stroked over a damn music video? I have a hard time wrapping my head around the idea of the Academy falling for her obvious PR tricks (Variety 100% put her in the lineup for clicks and because a certain someone’s check cleared).
December 9, 2022 at 6:29 am #1205184886im still on the fence that it’ll be a full populist nom lineup, something’s telling me if there’s gonna be a major snub its gonna be in this category
December 9, 2022 at 6:44 am #1205184901Taylor will make her feature directorial debut with Searchlight Pictures. The film will be based on an original script she wrote: https://deadline.com/2022/12/taylor-swift-eature-directorial-debut-searchlight-pictures-1235194466/

Rihanna and Gaga, imo, are in for a lock. Their movies are just too big for them to not be default noms. The other slots are all up for grabs.

i have no doubt Gaga will get in especially after the good will she displayed last ceremony despite the BA snub and w Maverick gearing to crash into Top 3/2 for BP, no way the Academy will pass up a chance for a full blown TG performance. Rih is obv next in line, tho part me of thinks it could pull a SYG, only thing differentiating the two is obv Ludwig & Coogler are more well-known and respected within the branch especially the former.

Haven’t seen something that aged so quickly and poorly! She isn’t doing this for shits and giggles. She has announced her own Big feature film and directorial debut with her own orginal script! She’s exploring new things and I’m honestly amazed by it.
