Okay, so updates on my Cruise thoughts.
I still don’t feel he’ll be nominated. However, if he does, I can totally see him winning, even if he doesn’t take precursors. That might sound unheard of, but maybe somebody else is feeling similarly can put it into words why.

Sorry, to clarify, I meant not win at those places and still take the Oscar.
September 27, 2022 at 11:53 am #1205100045I’m so happy Brendan Fraser is getting all of this praise. He deserved it.
Brendan Fraser will receive Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s next American Riviera Award for his performance in ‘THE WHALE’.

September 27, 2022 at 11:57 am #1205100050I hope Austin Butler is preparing the speech.

I wanted to ask for a source but nevermind. These people thought Will Smith and Jessica Chastain were Oscar worthy. I guess it’s not past them to think the same for that calculated and soulless performance from Butler.

I mean, people thought Kristen Stewart was award-worthy with that awful performance and the disastrous accent on Spencer. 😭

September 29, 2022 at 5:02 am #1205101992Off topic, but the king of shitty takes has striken again.
Jackman’s learning the tough lesson that he’s not, in fact, a movie star and no amount of career best work in stuff like Bad Education will stop it from being dumped and forgotten on HBO so of course he’ll keep dusting off the claws in between broadway. It’s all he has

September 29, 2022 at 7:03 am #1205102066Fraser has this. His viral clips alone generate millions of views. It’s a sympathetic comeback story.
Also the film will probably win Best Hair and Make Up which helps his chances.September 29, 2022 at 10:42 am #1205102293Okay, so updates on my Cruise thoughts.

Cruise biggest challenge is to get nommed. If he ends up getting nommed (And TGM gets a best picture nom too) he will be a threat for the win.
There is no clear frontrunner on this category yet (Butler is very good but not undeniable) and if Will Smith could win for his “King Richard” performance, Cruise can win for his TGM performance too.

Will Smith literally was in a baity biopic while Cruise is playing his nth action role. Cruise isn’t winning and isn’t even a threat for a nomination.

Do you honestly see Cruise winning the BAFTA? He needs that in order to take the Oscar. He’s not even getting nominated there let’s be serious.
