One of my friends made an interesting point to me and it got me thinking. If one of the leads of ‘Bros’ were to win at the GG Awrds, does that make them a contender for the oscar nomination? Or is that the win within itself? Curious to see how that pans out

That would be the win within itself. Any straight comedic performance being nominated would be hugely surprising alone, nevermind that Bros is performing very weakly in its opening weekend. Right now, Globe noms would arguably be a win for it even.

If Banshee’s gives us only half the top tier reaction gifs In Bruges gave us, I will be fed for life.

    - Best Director
    - Best Actor (Colin Farrell)

There’s only 3 months left in 2022 & we still don’t have a trailer. An odd choice on Apple’s part. Do ppl even care about “the slap” anymore? It feels like old news.

    @ K Olivia

I think Apple are dipping their toes, testing the waters and probably getting the black community in their corner.

It was rumoured that they might release it this awards season and with these news the rumours are getting more credible by the day. Him (Smith) showing up to me reads like a big deal in some ways. They could have screened the film but “hid” him, but no.

They have no strong player yet, with TGBRE failing to impress critics. Obviously the rumours surrounded Empacipation, Napoleon, and KOTFM.
Yet this is the one that got to be screened. I think IT is likely to be released this year.

If that were to indeed happen, I wonder how it might impact best actor race, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED

I think it is smart of Apple to release something, but I can’t get my hopes up for Emancipation, as, frankly, Antoine Fuqua is not a good enough director (last great film was Training Day… And the only good ones are not “Oscar” level good or even the type of good that will land you an acting nomination for Jake Gyllenhaal) and Will Smith rarely picks great projects. He’s a guy who literally turned down Django Unchained and The Matrix, but appeared in Wild Wild West and Gemini Man.
