I haven’t seen Farrell’s performance, but I’m happy for him. But I hope Cruise gets nominated cos he’s even better than Butler

BAFTA better do the right thing this season and give my boy, Colin, who is sweeping the trifecta, his flowers otherwise

With the Volpi and NYFCC Farrell is solidifying himself in the top 2! I think we are giving wayyyy too much credit to Frazier who’s good. I think Farrell giving a solid performance, and the overdue factor, on top of being in a beloved BP contender is going to give him the edge, I think Butler is second as he is the best thing about his film!

    And he will lose

In my mind, the ideal scenario heading into the Oscars is if Colin Farrell and Austin Butler won Globes, Fraser won SAG, and Nighy won BAFTA.

It’d be nice to go into the ceremony without certainty for a change.

I don’t see Brendan Fraser winning anything except maybe some regionals. The more I hear about The Whale, the less convinced I am in Fraser… His consolation prize seems like a nomination, and that’s not even a guarantee. Film Twitter hardly ever coincides with Oscars. Just because Fraser is the internets champ, means nothing, especially when his film is as divisive as I’ve heard it is.

One thing that gives me pause about Fraser is that a lot of the internet championing is coming from Gen Y and Gen Z.

I haven’t seen The Whale yet, but if I’m being honest, part of the reason I’ve been rooting for Brendan Fraser is because I grew up on his movies as a kid.

To most Academy members, there isn’t that nostalgic reverance for him.

Austin Butler is Adam Driver from 2019, Andrew Garfield from last year. Brendan Fraser has the transformation and he’s a respected veteran. Farrell is the alternative.

    Academy Award Winner Brendan Fraser
