Colin can indeed win SAG but Butler’s way stronger there, they have a tendency for biopics and apparently there’s been tons and tons of Screenings of Elvis for them (i even think Hanks is happening there as well).
Colin winning SAG would be too inspiring for their taste. Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

He has a decent shot at a Golden Globe + SAG nomination combo heading into nomination morning.

Netflix apparently picking Sandler as their priority in actor is pretty funny to me. And why not honestly? He was very good in this, the year is thin, and the Academy owes him one, so.

Talk about a blast from the past
December 5, 2022 at 10:19 pm #1205179664No one could rival Austin Butler’s performance level of difficulty in that film. It’s more than just wearing a wig putting on fake teeth and lipsyncing to Freddie Mercury. Butler gave a tourdeforce performance. The Academy will eat that up. I have him as the winner so far.

I mean, if you paid anyone a salary of $700,000, gave them 2 years to prepare with access to tons of footage of the person they were meant to portray, I’m sure they could have given just as good of a performance as Austin Butler.
The last half of the century has been full of great Elvis emulation. What makes Austin Butler so special? His sex appeal?

Come on, mimicry isn’t hard. Any somewhat competent actor can do it. I’ve seen Elvis impersonators in Vegas do just as well.

But did they look as hot while doing it?

No pro-Butler comments allowed. He just “impersonated” Elvis.
