Hi everyone! New user. My best actor December predictions.
1. Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin)
2. Austin Butler (Elvis)
3. Brendan Fraser (The Whale)
4. Paul Mescal (Aftersun)
5. Diego Calva (Babylon)
December 7, 2022 at 1:01 pm #1205182037Adam Sandler has zero chance of getting in. Only on this forum does anyone think that he has a chance.
December 7, 2022 at 1:10 pm #1205182045If Calva happens, that’d be such an inspiring choice
December 7, 2022 at 1:11 pm #1205182050I’m starting to get a little feeling that Tom Hanks might slip in for “A Man Called Otto”. I’ve had several friends attend industry screenings for it this week and they all really enjoyed it and especially Tom’s performance. Maybe he is the sleeper nom?
Honestly I would say no but seeing how this field is, if the movie make a splash and he’s acclaimed who knows.
Or it can just end up another Emancipation. Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

King who is focusing on winning another Tony (don’t even know if his musical is eligible from Tonys because I don’t follow them), and knows The Son ain’t going anywhere.

December 7, 2022 at 3:03 pm #1205182190I think people are being too hasty predicting Butler as a lock to win. Is it possible? Sure, but Farrell’s strengths are difficult to ignore.
December 7, 2022 at 4:37 pm #1205182247I watched Aftersun… I’m allowed to say that I think it’s overrated?
And Mescal, yeah, he’s good. But now I’m very skeptical of a nomination. But it’s an empty year for this category, so, who knows…

Butler is winning, is so obvious, is like Will Smith last year, and he didn’t even need to win any critics awards.

Yes! Never let the GoldDerby/Film Twitter hivemind influence your opinions.
I loved Aftersun and Paul Mescal in it but I have no delusions that he will be nominated. His character is not showy enough to get a nomination for Best Actor from AMPAS. I’d love to be wrong about that. This type of performance worked out for Casey Affleck, but he wasn’t unknown and his film wasn’t as small.
December 7, 2022 at 7:10 pm #1205182416Who y’all got for NBR tomorrow? I was just thinking that they have a history of awarding winners for multiple performances if they had several strong showings in the same year, although they haven’t done it in a while. I could see them bring it back and award Farrell tomorrow.

Yeah, I had Fraser first and convinced myself to flip butttt I could very easily see it being him.
