It worked for Joaquin, and the movie is more a thriller than horror.
is…the menu making a billion dollars?
also i never saw joker being called a horror.
and anya is the hero of the menu, yes?November 27, 2022 at 2:32 pm #1205168380(I consider Gleeson a co-lead in The Banshees of Inisherin and he’ll end up here in my personal awards but if we’re going strictly by studio placements).
Personal lineup.
1. Bill Nighy, Living
2. Paul Mescal, Aftersun
3. Colin Farrell, The Banshees of Inisherin
4. Daryl McCormack, Good Luck to You, Leo Grande
5. Park Hae-il, Decision to LeaveI would also support a nomination for John Boyega (Breaking). Out of all the acting categories this year this one feels by far the weakest but simultaneously I can’t remember the last time I felt so passionate about six performances in it.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

He’s excellent! Just missed my top 5. This category is actually not too bad if they would open up to comedy performances, a couple of really strong ones this year.
1. Alexander Skarsgard (The Northman)
2. Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin)
3. Gabriel LaBelle (The Fabelmans)
4. Andy Garcia (Father of the Bride)
5. Daniel Radcliffe (Weird: The Al Yankovich Story)I have yet to see The Whale, Living, Broker, The Son or Aftersun

November 28, 2022 at 6:47 am #1205168882I couldn’t have said it better. Rooting so hard for Colin here…I hope he takes the same path as Colman (Volpi Cup+ Globe+ BAFTA) 😭
Maybe it’s just me but I don’t understand why everyone wants the “actor playing a musician” performance or “actor who put on a ton of weight” performance to win Best Actor (both of which we’ve seen done to death) when this tremendous performance exists. Baffling! pic.twitter.com/RjmEnBBDt3

November 28, 2022 at 6:57 am #1205168888Colin is looking quite good because as opposed to Cumberbatch he’s going into the BAFTA with a Globe win. Another advantage is that BAFTA will happen before SAG so they might just do their own thing cause otherwise they’ve turned into lame predictors. Scanlan was lucky when that category turned up to be so irrelevant despite her giving a majestic performance. If Gaga had been nominated for the Oscars she would have been a BAFTA winner.

What’s helping Farrell standout despite his lack of obvious bait is that his two biggest competitors are BOTH offering VERY obvious bait (physical transformation, biopic) that I think people are just starting to get tired of. He seems like the refreshing, “different” choice, the apple in a bag of oranges, and I think that will help him. If it were JUST Farrell vs. Butler or Farrell vs. Fraser, we’d be having a very different conversation.
November 28, 2022 at 8:38 am #1205169017I saw him as more borderline Supporting, but Chalamet is very impressive in Bones and All. I’m really struck by how generous he seems as a scene partner – very present and working to highlight the person across from him.
November 28, 2022 at 2:46 pm #1205169403Will Smith is about to come through and set fire to Best Actor Race. I just know he’s about to give the performance of his career with Emancipation.
. Not after the slap. Beat not to factor him into your final lineup
November 28, 2022 at 2:50 pm #1205169413Yep, another unknown actor is going to win for another biopic

He could give it the performer of a lifetime greater than all the actors that live today and he still wouldn’t win 2 in a row and with a movie that skipped festivals, has zero buzz and his name is surrounded by controversy when it comes to Oscar.
I look forward to watching it tho.

November 28, 2022 at 5:01 pm #1205169598IF Will Smith gives an incredible performance in Emancipation and the Academy snub him because they’re still upset about the slap, in a few years when everyone has moved on it’s going to look like they were just being petty.
November 28, 2022 at 9:10 pm #1205170006I won’t pretend to know Will Smith but I do know a few things about forgiveness and giving people who genuinely express remorse second chances. If Emancipation is the real deal, I hope enough voters will be willing to forgive him and look past the slap, especially when far worse men have been let off the hook.
