That was such a random win. He’s had way better roles

Tell me about it. You could count on your two hands, if not more, these better role. The man got it because it had to be, just like Pacino got it when Denzel should have win for Malcolm X. I hate the long-overdue narrative

Why do they care in Actor if someone is in a best picture nominee, but not in best actress lmao

    Double standards.

Fore sure !!! Being nominated for a performance in a nominated film helps a lot : it helped Russel Crowe, great in Galdiator, to win over a sublime Tom Hanks in Cast Away. Speaking of whom : Tom’s nomination for a razzie for the same movie than Butler’s who’s about to win the little golden Guy is super weird !

Apparently the voting body HATED Castaway. That didn’t help.

Butler is my third favorite performance so I’m rooting for him but I don’t really think him when I watch his interviews, he just comes off really fake to me. I’ll just have to separate art from the artist if he wins lol. It’s not like I hangout with these people

If they Rourke Fraser which I’ve suspected from the start I’ll go with Colin.
I think it’s his best work in his ace resume.
But even there my emotional support goes to all 3 of his costars.
A 70yr old friend asked me just yesterday if I thought she’d like Banshees or if she should watch EEAAO first.
    Lol!!!

I still think (hope?) that Fraser is on a Chastain route, meaning that even if they don’t care about the movie they’ll feel good awarding him. But that’s my hunch and we will see what happen at SAG…

His perf made me cry, his acceptance speeches made me cry, and his gratitude makes me cry. What’s up with that?

Wasn’t even close to Russel Crowe in Beautiful Mind. He won cuz Crowe bitchslapped a reporter in the middle of voting post BAFTA’s lol

    Agree to disagree

I thought Crowe was three at best in that Best Actor lineup

    My rankings that year

    Washington

    Wilkinson

    Crowe

    Penn

    Smith

I so wanted Wilkinson to win that year.

Can someone tell me when Living will be available to rent or stream? I need to watch it, same for The Whale.
    I’d be thankful.
