She loves her young white girlies.
This is Goldderby in a nutshell.

October 7, 2022 at 11:23 am #1205110555She thinks that Margot Robbie is the best actress in recent years.
Wait…did she actually say this? So many awards pundits are obsessed with Robbie for some reason..svg” class=”emoji”

October 7, 2022 at 11:27 am #1205110560ZRB is ferociously supporting Everything Everywhere while pundits have swung to other catchy titles and is campaigning for Ke Huy Quan.
She like every other person and pundit has her bias and her love for Sink and Robbie is well-known but it doesn’t mean she is racist! Let’s not excuse people with such labels.

Constantly pushing actors who are declared the ‘next big thing’ irrespective of performance, and the young actors being elevated in this way are (let’s be real) usually white. The fact that Sink is still being talked about despite the reviews demonstrates that she is someone being heavily pushed right now.
Yes, and here is another example of her bias. I find her support for Ke Huy Quan quite amusing, because it’s obvious that she couldn’t care less about whoever wins the category this year.
I’m such a sucker for a “white woman reinvents herself” movie, this is going to be one of my favorite films of the year https://t.co/Mdd742xX3O

October 7, 2022 at 11:37 am #1205110583I love Blanchett and I might cheer if she wins but I want my Asian, Black ladies to finally take the crown!

It’s a carryover from the intense push for Sink during the Emmys, which was also unrealistic. Critics who don’t like The Whale have often pointed to Sink’s character being unnecessarily cruel as written. I don’t think she’s going to go far if she’s in that unlikeable of a role. But Bryant is notorious for seeing what she wants to see, as many other pundits do.

What really frustrates me is that – all of these films are successes in their own right and have a narrative befitting of a win, and yet they aren’t the frontrunner. You have great movies with great characters being written for these ladies. And these films (Women Talking and EEAAO) are critical and commercial successes. Till is your typical biopic film with a great performance at the center of it. You have all recipes that push studios to campaign films with white leads and Academy to reward them. And yet the same won’t happen here and another white actress will be rewarded!

It’ll be a mess if we can’t get our second WOC winner ever with all these amazing performances.

October 7, 2022 at 11:49 am #1205110599Honestly I haven’t seen reviews like those for Blanchett in years. They are very rare. Ultimately it should be about performance and not about the number of Oscars.

Best is subjective and Oscar rewards anything and everything but that! So there should be more, we as an audience and pandits should be seeking for when advocating for performances and actors.

Wondering where is that “standing up for women” theory especially considering Margot hasn’t achieved 1/5th of what “worked with abusers” actresses like Winslet and Blanchett have in their careers, both of whom have taken up game changing roles for women. The world is round.
