Thuso Mdebo belongs in Best Actress and not in Best Supporting Actress – there are two leads in the movie and she is one of them. While I am not a big fan of the movie (due to it’s historical inaccuracies – Dahomey was involved in the slave trade for decades after 1823 – and it’s militarism/violence and glorifying of both) the best performance in the movie was from Thuso Mdebo as Nawi and she is the real lead in the movie.

Did I mention Tár as a whole? I said Blanchett only who might have a similar critics haul to Affleck and the same precursor wins as him as well.

Michelle (Yeoh, Williams) Oscar campaign manager.

I’m starting to think that Cate Blanchett is winning, I’ve seen a lot of people even comparing her to Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood.

Nina Hoss may receive critical support.

These 5 would be my choices Cate Blanchett Michelle Williams Olivia Colman Michelle Yeoh Margot Robbie Next group Danielle Deadwyler Jessica Chastain Jennifer Lawrence Carey Mulligan Viola Davis

I also think people are underestimating Colman power.

It’s too early but it seems Blanchett is the clear favourite. Right now, I think Robbie could be the surprise winner. And Williams could be a surprise winner too. The Oscars in its 95 years were/are very racist so I doubt about Yeoh or Davis winning

Honestly I haven’t seen reviews like those for Blanchett in years. They are very rare. Ultimately it should be about performance and not about the number of Oscars.

True, although there are some weird cases of wasted opportunities (albeit few).

Now per Blanchett, I wouldn’t mind to see her winning this Oscar… In a fair world which all actresses with different colors of skin can reach the same opportunities.

Personally, I don’t mind if Blanchett loses this time, considering she has other chances and currently she has the status as THE female thespian of her generation and securing these main opportunities. But then how many chances will Michelle Yeoh have? Or Danielle Deadwyler (Let’s not forget Viola Davis just barely the record to be the first POC actress nominated twice just two years ago (After 90 years of Oscars).

If this is an opportunity to bring another POC actress (Which don’t forget, their performances are also acclaimed and had been pointed out as the best of the year) go for it.

Does Colman have a chance at getting nominated. I mean her movie is not getting the best reviews…

    Yeoh will prevail.
