November 27, 2022 at 5:33 pm #1205168557Seeing lots of Yeoh, Deadwyler, Davis, Russell, and Wei in people’s rankings. It’s truly a fantastic year for WOC in terms of leading roles.
Michelle (Yeoh, Williams) Oscar campaign manager.

November 27, 2022 at 5:57 pm #1205168581Folks here only cherish understated performances. It’s the reason Lady Gaga and Jessica Chastain were hated last season. They just want an actor to be subtle even when the role doesn’t call for it
Goldderby: “If the actress barely moves her face, its an oscar winning performance. AND if she actually acts and makes choices its razzie worthy.
November 27, 2022 at 6:12 pm #1205168590My personal lineup:

I doubt anyone (seriously) believes that any actress this year will have “an easy coast to the Oscar”. The thing about Blanchett is that we still haven’t figured out who is her main competitor. This race always comes down to two names. And since people are still debating whether this is “Blanchett vs Yeoh”, “Blanchett vs Deadwyler” or “Blanchett vs Williams”, it is inevitably creating the sense not only that Blanchett is the one to beat, thus invariably giving her the status of frontrunner. That said, she also earns that title at the moment, due to numerous festival awards – Venice, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs. But I believe we won’t see any landslides in this category this year.
As for your predictions, I am not sure about BAFTA giving the award to Yeoh. Yes, they have nominated genre performances in the past, but I can’t remember any of them winning and most would be British. But BAFTA can surprise so I suppose we can expect the unexpected from them.
Spreading the Love: Oscars 2023
Best Picture: Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Director: The Daniels
Best Actor: Colin Farrell
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett
Best Supporting Actor: Ke Huy Quan
Best Supporting Actress: Angela BassettNovember 27, 2022 at 6:37 pm #1205168618not all of them are in movies with acting razzie wins but ok.
The Razzies nominated the Thing for worst score and The Shinning for worst actress. Only an imbecile takes the razzies seriously. Also I don’t remember Lady Gaga getting nominated for a razzie but I do remember her getting nominated for everything except the Oscar.
November 27, 2022 at 6:38 pm #1205168621Aren’t you the one who thought Lady Gaga was going to win the Oscar for House of Razzies???
Mia Goth still isn’t getting a best actress nomination. She won’t come close to an Oscar nomination.
November 27, 2022 at 6:56 pm #1205168637Sag voters don’t like movies like Tar, didn’t you guys learn anything last year from Spencer???
I honestly don’t understand why are people so hellbent on making anyone in this race “a new Spencer/Stewart”, when in fact, not a single lady that is in this conversation fits that role?
The one who does is not in here – but in the Best Actor race. Ahem, ahem, Fraser.

Best Supporting Actress: Angela BassettNovember 27, 2022 at 6:56 pm #1205168639Tar is a long and boring mess, I only finished it coz of miss Blanchett. She was really fine but I think it’s not her time to get the third gold. I feel like miss Yeoh will swept, the movie itself was a hot and crazy mess but her acting was everything 👌
November 27, 2022 at 7:43 pm #1205168688Also I don’t remember Lady Gaga getting nominated for the Oscar.
right.
and i guess her co-star jared leto just wasn’t subtle enough since he won a razzie.

There aren’t that many stans. A few people with multiple accounts saying the same shit over and over again.

1. Michelle Yeoh (EEAAO)

4. Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans)
5. Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King)

6. Danielle Deadwyler (Till)
7. Aubrey Plaza (Emily the Criminal)
8. Viola Davis (The Woman King)Have yet to see Babylon, Decision to Leave, or Pearl.
I did see Good Luck to You Leo Grande and thought Thompson was very good, but not particularly oscar worthy imo. Darryl McCormack was the real standout in that movie for me and I genuinely don’t understand why there was so much talk about her for best actress and virtually 0 for him in best actor.
I also wasn’t too impressed with De Armas in Blonde. She gave what Dominick wanted I think, but she failed to really capture the contradictions in Monroe’s persona and didn’t get much opportunity to show variety in her performance.
