This is exactly what Deadwyler needs to be seen as a top contender going into critics season and IMO her best shot at a televised win at the Globes.
November 28, 2022 at 7:10 pm #1205169788Danielle Deadwyler has the potential to be unstoppable this season, hopefully this is her first of many awards
Her performance SCREAMS Oscar bait! It could happen.
November 28, 2022 at 7:19 pm #1205169817Gotham wins don’t correlate great with Oscars, but at least we know C8 def is not the unstoppable sweeper some hoped she’d be.
November 28, 2022 at 7:21 pm #1205169822If Deadwyler takes the Globe (which is very possible) she’s definitely competitive for both the BAFTA and SAG. Granted visibility could be an issue at the latter when it comes to a nomination but I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about her getting nominated at the former presuming she makes the long-list.
Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!
November 28, 2022 at 7:26 pm #1205169835The NYFF premiere plus the Gotham win sets Deadwyler up decently for a chance at NYFCC too. I think she could surprise at the very least with a runner-up placement.

I adore Yeoh but EEAAO wasn’t it and while she was good (duh she is Michelle Yeoh) I liked Blanchett and Deadwyler a lot more. However Danielle needs to get out and campaign! She didn’t do red carpet at governors awards and she didn’t go to the gothams where she won!
November 28, 2022 at 7:31 pm #1205169847Hooray for Danielle Deadwyler!
Incredible performance and I hope this gets her more on the radar.
I was rooting most for her, Yeoh, and (longshot but still incredible) Plaza. Love Cate and actually expected her to take this so I’m pleasantly surprised.
November 28, 2022 at 7:32 pm #1205169849Haven’t been following oscars at all this year but I’ll always be delighted at EEAO winning anything. Love Cate and all but she already has two oscars. I want so badly for Legend Yeoh to win for her amazing performance!
EDIT: Turns out Michelle didn’t actually win Gothams but still.
I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed. We are Liverpool and qualifying to the competition is the bare minimum. I am sorry but it’s too soon for an uplifting or optimistic post. We let you and ourselves down.

If she lost to say Mescal or Fraser or even Yeoh (seeing as EEAO otherwise swept) it wouldn’t have mattered as much but now there are going to be a slew of film critics and higher brow members of the AMPAS who are going to check out Till just to check out Deadwyler’s performance (which there wouldn’t necessarily have been before).
We don’t say awards races are built on momentum for no reason.

Exactly. More AMPAS members are going to watch Till now and if/when Deadwyler starts winning more awards.
I’m telling y’all, don’t be surprised if Till gets a Best Picture nomination, especially if Deadwyler is in it to win it
November 28, 2022 at 7:45 pm #1205169886imdb indicates till isn’t out in uk until january so bafta might not get around to watching it.
