November 27, 2022 at 10:51 am #1205168203Given that “Blonde” has been eligible for both Gotham and Spirits Awards and that Ana was nominated for neither, I think it is safe to say the movie is dead.
c’mon dont get hard on it…Blonde is NC-17 with alot controversial ..im not surprised that she got none from small awards
Best Actor : Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Austin Butler, Bill Nighy
Best Actress : Michelle Yeoh, Ana de Armas, Cate Blanchett , Andrea Riseborough, Danielle Deadwyler
November 27, 2022 at 10:54 am #12051682071. Kristine Froseth, Sharp Stick
2. Lee Hye-young, The Novelist’s Film
3. LessersNovember 27, 2022 at 11:05 am #1205168210I have a feeling Pearl will do for Mia Goth similar to what Short Term 12 did for Brie Larson.
My guess is that the buzz from her performance in Pearl will get her cast into a more “traditional” awards vehicle and instead of the nomination being the victory there, she will immediately be considered for the win.
The big difference though is that Brie didn’t get the INSANE praise for Short Term 12 that Mia got for Pearl. Mia is in a better position after Pearl than Brie was after Short Term 12.
Mia has a bright future is what I’m saying. ✨
November 27, 2022 at 11:05 am #1205168212My personals so far (based on performance alone):
1. Danielle Deadwyler, Till
2. Cate Blanchett, TÁR
3. Tang Wei, Decision to Leave
4. Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once
5. Charlbi Dean, Triangle of SadnessI have a lot more to see, but I highly doubt anything tops what Danielle achieves in Till.
FYC: Danielle Deadwyler, Best Actress in a Leading Role
November 27, 2022 at 11:15 am #1205168217So many amazing performances this season. It’s hard to choose. And I still have many movies to see. I think Rosy McEwen(Blue Jean) and Zar Amir Ebrahimi(Holy Spider) will destroy me. For now:
Taylor Russell- Bones and All
Cate Blanchett- TAR
Michelle Yeoh -Everything Everywhere All At Once
Dale Dickey- A Love Song
Florence Pugh- The WonderNovember 27, 2022 at 11:46 am #1205168231I have a feeling Pearl will do for Mia Goth similar to what Short Term 12 did for Brie Larson. will she also be outacted by a child with said vehicle?
November 27, 2022 at 12:23 pm #1205168263My personal lineup
1: Tang Wei- Decision To Leave
2. Cate Blanchett- Tar
3. Jennifer Lawrence-Causeway
4. Rebecca Hall- Resurrection
5.Michelle Yeoh – Everything Everywhere All At OnceNovember 27, 2022 at 1:02 pm #1205168283Yea I’m trying to understand why Michelle is getting singled out for being “hammy”. Cate Blanchett was hammy too, in that case. Michelle’s character was supposed to be over the top at some points. Why was she supposed to give a subdued performance when that’s not what the role or film called for? A performance does not have to be understated to be good.
Folks here only cherish understated performances. It’s the reason Lady Gaga and Jessica Chastain were hated last season. They just want an actor to be subtle even when the role doesn’t call for it
Gaga is slaying in Folie à Deux

oh, is that why the academy snubbed gaga, because they incorrectly thought she was not being subtle enough?
