Hi! New user. My december predictions:
1. Cate Blanchett (TÁR)
2. Danielle Deadwyler (Till)
3. Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All At Once)
4. Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans)
5. Margot Robbie (Babylon)
December 7, 2022 at 12:53 pm #1205182025The way these two are so interested in what the other one has done is so utterly endearing. So much respect, graciousness… QUEENS!
I really liked the connection Blanchett made between the two main characters in TAR and EEAAO originally being imagined as men. And of course, there’s the total irony that as soon as TAR came out, people were comparing Blanchett’s role/performance to that of DDL in There Will Be Blood/Phantom Thread. Some of those comparisons are fair, but it’s telling that these types of lead roles for women can’t be taken on their own terms because there’s been so few of them in the mainstream. And Blanchett is seen as such a titan among dramatic actresses so it stands out even more.
I can’t wait for the full conversation to drop.
December 7, 2022 at 1:02 pm #1205182039I hadn’t heard or seen Jennifer Lawrence in an interview for a while, but I like this new Lawrence as much as the bubbly one. Viola Davis is such a great storyteller. I could listen to her narrate children’s stories to me all day.
Looking forward to Blanchett and Yeoh talking about butt plugs ❤️
It’s so nice to see them chatting about their craft with deep respect for one another.
December 7, 2022 at 1:18 pm #1205182053I am in L O V E with this lineup!!!
2023 Oscar
Best Picture: Holy Spider
Best Director: Decision to Leave
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett
Best Actor: Brendan Fraser
Best Supporting Actress: Olivia de Leon
Best Supporting Actor: Ke Huy QuanDecember 7, 2022 at 1:19 pm #1205182056As of today i
I do think Yeoh is a big contender and EEAAO is bigger than till of course . But i honestly think if anyone is beating Blanchett strangely it’s Deadwyler. Your right there the 2 frontrunners but strangely i really do believe deadwyler is bigger competition to Blanchett for the academy award.
I had thought that a month ago but it now seems there is currently SO LITTLE buzz for Deadwyler and Till that I no longer agree with you.
December 7, 2022 at 1:42 pm #1205182082Hopefully Deadwyler wins NBR tomorrow.

You don’t care, just because Viola Davis wasn’t nominated. 😭😭😭.svg” class=”emoji”

Your right but Blanchett is such a strong front runner that i can’t imagine the academy giving it to Yeoh for a action movie. Deadwyler gives your traditional Oscar winning performance which is a leg up in this field of lead actress. Even so called inspired wins like Olivia Colman in The favorite still have traditional characteristics that lead actress winners possessed.
December 7, 2022 at 3:41 pm #1205182206Am I the only one who kind of would love to see Michelle Yeoh’s take on Lydia in Tar?

I’d be happy with a win by either Deadwyler OR Yeoh but Deadwyler’s performance remains my personal favorite of the year, male or female. I’m just hoping she can win a trifecta award or a precursor and pick up some serious momentum.

Deadwyler will win the industry awards, while Blanchett wins the critics.
