Confidence is high in this Nov. 18 release – is a top 3 TIFF showing in the cards? Maybe… (campaigns for actress, supporting actor, director, original screenplay..picture?)
For those who saw the trailer for The Menu in front of Men last night what were your thoughts on it? Haven’t seen much talk about it on here. Way different in tone than I was expecting but it looks pretty interesting! pic.twitter.com/dH3zYQWb8B

ReplyCopy URLMay 21, 2022 at 3:42 am #1204958869Also, I think Yeoh will be overshadowed by other early release nominees like Daisy Edgar Jones in Where the Crawdads Sing and Dakota Johnson in Persuasion.
I can tell you with absolute certainty that if Michelle Yeoh somehow misses the Oscar nomination, it will not be in favor of either of those two actresses whose vehicles will not reach half of the cultural phenomena, box office income, or industry passion EEAAO is currently overwhelmingly experiencing and will continue to be experiencing.

Best Supporting Actor: Poor ThingsMay 21, 2022 at 6:31 am #1204958987I do not mean to bore you with the same thing over and over again but I just watched EEAAO and I simply feel obligated to mention how utterly awed I was with this masterpiece. I haven’t seen a lot of contenders but I doubt any of those movies will make me feel the way I did as I watched this amazing film. Michelle winning would be one of the most refreshing wins in oscar history especially after the lackluster race we had last year. No amount of praise heaped on her in these forums would have prepared me for how magnificent she really was. Viola Davis once said that the only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity, and watching how this spectacular actors of color delivered absolutely terrific perfomances was a testament to that statement. Stephanie Hsu and Ke Huy Quan were revelatory and also deserves a nomination/win ( more on that on their respective thread).

Margot Robbie in Babylon
Cate Blanchett in Tar
Anya Taylor-Joy in The Menu
Carey Mulligan in She Said
Naomi Ackie in I Wanna Dance With Somebody
Contenders who are off my predix short list for now, as I think they are at risk of being derailed by studio mishandling – Michelle Williams, Ana de Armas, Sally Hawkins, Danielle Deadwyler, Taylor Russell, Viola Davis, Regina King, Emily Watson, Michelle Yeoh, Jennifer Lawrence, Florence Pugh, Margaret Qualley, Julianne Moore, Thandiwe Newton, Tang Wei
Contenders who are at risk because Searchlight can work only so much best actress magic per season: Saoirse Ronan, Olivia Colman, Emma Stone
Contenders who will be category frauded to supporting to grab a slot: Zoe Kazan, possibly Lily Gladstone or Griselda Siciliani
Contender who will shoot to the top if Apple swaps in Napoleon for Killers of the Flower Moon this year: Vanessa Kirby

Darling, it will be pretty interesting if she be able to get in like Christie in McCabe & Mrs. Miller. A background character with very brief screentime that somehow got nominated in lead lol…
