I don’t know what happened but I thought Till had been announced for TIFF. It would be interesting considering that crowd loves biopics and social relevant movies and if it could place in the TOP 3 it could get people to talk about her performance.

Right now I have Danielle in 6th because the TOP 5 just makes so much sense, and I have Blanchett in #1.

Darling, Deadwyler is a confirmed contender. Till is a maximum Oscar-bait:
    Strong central performance✅
    Based on true story✅
    Period-piece✅
    Set in the South✅
    About racism✅
    Strong female character✅
    Dealing with grief✅

This is the kind of movie that will be held together solely by her performance. She looks great in the trailer, but the trailer feels like a short film lol… still, a top 5 contenders.

    Updated predictions; July

    1. Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once
    2. Danielle Deadwyler, Till
    3. Margot Robbie, Babylon
    4. Ana De Armas, Blonde
    5. Olivia Colman, Empire of Light

    FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION

Michelle Yeoh, Everything Everywhere All At Once
    Tang Wei, Decision To Leave
    Rebecca Hall, Resurrection

James Hong & Jamie Lee Curtis, Everything Everywhere All At Once

I can’t bring myself to take Deadwyler out. I really think she could be happening. That trailer is just clip after clip after clip.

I’m inclined to see Danielle Deadwyler following a similar path to Cynthia Erivo for “Harriet” with a standout performance in a moderately-received biopic without much heat elsewhere in the awards race for a star who is on the rise. It is possible the trailer is intentionally more “cookie cutter” than the movie actually is, but it does seem like Deadwyler’s performance will elevate itself above the rest of the film, which feels very standard. Absolutely could be wrong at this early stage of the race, and it’s hard to judge movies and performances based only off of trailers at this stage of the race, but that’s where we are right now.

Erivo is british, which already gives someone an edge when getting Oscar nominations.

When she pulls an Olivia Colman/Mahershala Ali and wins an Oscar before winning an Emmy.

She should be winning her Emmy this September but they decided to be basic and go for the overrated TWL cast.

Till has a strong case for SAG Ensemble, which could help her out.

Why ? You know who is writing I Wanna Dance With Somebody’s script, right ? Naomie feels like an easy nomination and the movie will probably be a box office hit given who she’s playing.

Why not both? There’s room for both.
