Also anyone notice how GD is trolling by having that “Andrea Riseborough (“To Leslie”) discusses ‘marathon’ ” video load every time the page loads? LOL She will stay in your face!
It has been Austin Butler’s interview for the past few days so I’m sure it’ll change to someone else’s interview in the near future.
January 25, 2023 at 3:25 pm #1205267512Michelle Yeoh better win this shit.
Trash ass category. Trash lineup. Trash snubs. Trash Andrea campaign. Trash voters. Trash voters nominated Michelle Williams for some fucking reason.
And If you think I’m mad, think again. It’s just my trash vocabulary.
What a disgrace. In a just world, the Oscar should be a 3 horse race between Yeoh, Deadwyller and Blanchett.
Now we have this irrelevant, supporting performance here and this fucking nobody of a movie To Leslie, really here just taking space from actual contenders the whole season, carried by the will of the big white voters on the branch.
January 25, 2023 at 3:27 pm #1205267516Darling, Imma doing a rewatch of The Fabelmans tonight because I’m tired of bitching about how she somehow ruined the lineup and want to make myself feel better about this category (at least this is a miles better set of nominees than last year)
Maybe Goofy Wig’s performance is not so bad and less annoying after a rewatch (and the movie too lol).
January 25, 2023 at 3:28 pm #1205267522Michelle Williams is hammy in The Fabelmans, but she isn’t particularly atrocious as other contenders. I think the ham works because The Fabelmans is such a bad movie lol
January 25, 2023 at 3:29 pm #1205267526Sit this one out? Do you think I’m scared of being insulted on an awards forum? Pls.
Be real for a second, that annoying troll Norma Jean just wanted to attract hate to Ana de Armas and was just another dupe of that someone we all know. I defended Ana de Armas from the beginning, I don’t need to prove it. You’re just hanging on to her because Margot Robbie was snubbed.Lol, you’re right I’m devastated about Margot, who’ll more than likely be back in the conversation in the near future. I see you love inserting yourself into things that have nothing to do with you. And that “troll” was simply passionate about their pick. I told them to stick with it despite the naysayers and ridiculing on this board. Group bullying is so lame. In fact, it made me keep Ana in my predictions, too. So that was one I, we, got right!

Also, not to stick up for anyone and sorry in advance for dropping your name, but a spade MUST be called a spade! Wolfali had absolutely nothing to do with the POTD mob. That was led by no other than Kaziz. Followed by loyal lapdogs like Estrellas, Lorelei, Crabbie, and OscarWatcher. Sorry girls! Nothing personal but y’all was without a doubt the mob. Wolfali was nowhere near part of that crew. Just saying.
I take a break from the mess aka GD and have my name randomly called out in a discussion I’m not even part of. I-
Also, the name dropping is kinda giving stalker. erm.
With that said, this thread is kinda of entertaining from time to time ngl.
January 25, 2023 at 3:35 pm #1205267549Hmm I’m a bit confused here. Didn’t you amicably respond that you’re just on here “for shits and giggles” when you were asked, rather kindly, on this forum why you never have made predictions in the predictions centre?
Milk Money I don’t care about what’s going on in your life to make you want to come on here or whether you’re genuinely interested in predicting or like lurking and sharing your opinions or if you have a predictions accuracy of 100% or 2%. Those are all just stupid little things that life’s just not worth losing over.
But for far too long now you have gaslit, bullied, attacked, verbally abused and just been absolutely nasty to multiple users who have responded to your posts kindly enquiring and debating the things you have had to say.
Now you may say all of this is accusatory or that “I’m trying to get you” or that someone like Anna Delvey for example is trying to get you or that we’re just being smug about our own predictions (which I can assure you I at least am not because that would be just idiotic for multiple reasons). But really I just want you to now how some people including myself feel when we’re interacting with you on here.
I’m free to talk things through via the DMs on here because I believe there could just be a miscommunication or a conflict between passionate voices that can easily be allayed through dialogue but please don’t respond to this post on here because I don’t want to put yourself or myself or anyone on these forums through some sort of “tiring fight” and I will just simply ignore and not respond to it.
Um ok. Sure, my PMs are open if you’d like to chat. Anytime.
January 25, 2023 at 3:37 pm #1205267553Ok, I should clarify I didn’t mean it in a literal sense that the UK was her home country. BUt it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that she’s highly favorable by the British Academy. She’s got a lot of British colleagues who she’s worked with on a lot of projects & films. She also has a home there (East Sussex).
Having connections or a residence in the UK is not the same as being developed/a product of the British system FWIW. There is no specific evidence that Australians are given any preferential treatment in the UK.
January 25, 2023 at 3:38 pm #1205267556Estrelas is one of the more sane members. Don’t forget Nevkm, MD, Snowball, NevadaR, and Amnisty21 were also apart of the mob
January 25, 2023 at 3:38 pm #1205267558At this moment, Cate Blanchett has won:
Volpi + GG Drama + CC+ all Trifectas. Historically spoken, she is very ahead in this race.
While I’m rooting for Yeoh, she will likely need to pull a SAG+Bafta win to combat Blanchett’s current momentum.

It’s a performance appreciated by audiences with very lowbrow taste, who get into the expressiveness of the character’s emotions, or by very highbrow audiences, who understand the context of her inspiration in the performances from the 50s, that Spielberg’s mother was in real life a flamboyant character used to mask her insecurity, and that the over-the-top aspect of the performance is used very stylishly within the context of the film.
If you look at the performance through a more theatrical lens and try to understand that “dramatifying” real life is part of the magic of cinema and the purpose of the film, I think you will be able to appreciate more what Williams does in The Fabelmans.January 25, 2023 at 3:43 pm #1205267573Let’s all rejoice that Margot Robbie is NOT nominated. Also glad that she was absolutely NOTHING outside of that GG nod.

You’re absolutely right. But I also think white actors from English speaking countries (US,UK,IRE,AUS,NZ) are generally given more preferential treatment at their own award system anyway. Like it’s hard to compare the advantage of someone like Nicole Kidman in the UK to someone like Salma Hayek, although they’re both non-British. Just an opinion.
