Even if Michelle Yoeh loses, she had a stacked upcoming projects! I just checked her IMDB and she has like 8 upcoming tv/films

Many voters are probably going to see her movie because of curiosity and if they truly like her performance they could vote for her
I haven’t watched her movie so I don’t really know if she was that good.

I prefer my roses whiteJanuary 28, 2023 at 5:52 am #1205272214Whatever is the veredict regarding the investigation, the Academy has to make changes about campaigning, promotion and voting. Maybe even have a jury like BAFTA does.
What Ricci said is true, smaller films get ignored simply for not having money for promotion. The Academy needs to help those films to also be in the conversation and make the field even for everybody. You can compare a film that does 5 screenings vs one that does 50. Maybe limiting the screenings per film, especially for the acting branch.

Came here to say exactly this. My money is now on her winning after all this controversy, voters will probably sympathize with her, she will get a big standing ovation and talk about how her grassroots campaigning paid off.

To the general public the Oscars already focuses too much on small movies. The Oscars is not the Independent Spirit Awards. Film festivals, critics prizes, and word of mouth is there to boost smaller films. EEAAO was relatively small, and it’s leading the nominations.

January 28, 2023 at 6:04 am #1205272232See thats what I’m talking about, actors branch ain’t going to be happy about their voice being undermined, which might result in them voting for andrea for the win, even the one that didn’t in the nomination time. out of spite this time.
exactly …. Andrea for the win …
Best Actor : Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser, Austin Butler, Bill Nighy
Best Actress : Michelle Yeoh, Ana de Armas, Cate Blanchett , Andrea Riseborough, Danielle Deadwyler
January 28, 2023 at 6:15 am #1205272249If they find evidence counter to the “rules” Andrea won’t be there to win anything.
