i mean, the only people who can vote are Academy members, so not sure what the people attacking the label of grassroots would want exactly.
it’s not like obama/sanders where a bunch of broke nobodies were contributing small amounts b/c they believed in the cause. people already in the Academy are/were Somebodies.
in the past, somewhat surprise nominees who were not coattails were having academy screenings done by a-listers like julia roberts.
January 28, 2023 at 7:23 am #1205272342people crying over daniele deadwyler but forgeting viola davis was robbed
Viola Davis has multiple nominations and will be nominated again. I’m not as concerned for her. This could be Deadwyler’s only shot in this white woman dominated category. If they took that away from her to nominate one white woman who has no chance of winning (she’s not winning guys, get real) and who has chances of nominations in the future then that sucks. No offense to Andrea because she is a good actress but that sucks and leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I agree with most of the post, but this definitely won’t be her only shot. She’s a game-changing talent.
FYC: Danielle Deadwyler, Best Actress in a Leading Role
January 28, 2023 at 7:53 am #1205272371Imagine if Andrea ends winning thanks to all this bullying against her lol
Many voters are probably going to see her movie because of curiosity and if they truly like her performance they could vote for her
I haven’t watched her movie so I don’t really know if she was that good.
Everyone is talking about Andrea in the circles I frequent, it’s crazy. She’s a serious contender for the win.
January 28, 2023 at 7:58 am #1205272375I watched TAR twice. I would have no problem with Cate Blanchett getting her third Oscar for this film. She excels in the role of Lydia, perfectly capturing flawlessly the flaws leading to Lydia’s unstoppable downfall. Bravo, Ms. Blanchett! You’ve got my vote!
Life is a thin thread.
We hang on tightly knowing
it will snap one day.January 28, 2023 at 8:15 am #1205272388Danielle is young and incredibly talented. I’m positive she’ll get another nomination.

Agree. It’s weird and actually quite rude of people acting like she could never possibly get another good role, as if she hasn’t just delivered knockout performances in The Harder They Fall/Station Eleven/Till in a very short space of time.
January 28, 2023 at 8:56 am #1205272450yes, danielle is great, but angela had to wait like 30 years for another chance so.
January 28, 2023 at 8:56 am #1205272453crabbie is film123? I didn’t know this information and I’m shocked.
January 28, 2023 at 9:01 am #1205272464I hope Danielle is this year’s Brie Larson. You know how she got snubbed in 2014 only to steamroll a victory in 2016. I don’t think Danielle will be forgotten and that she won’t be given a chance. She certainly deserves it!
Spreading the Love: Oscars 2023
Best Picture: Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Director: The Daniels
Best Actor: Colin Farrell
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett
Best Supporting Actor: Ke Huy Quan
Best Supporting Actress: Angela BassettJanuary 28, 2023 at 9:14 am #1205272474I’m pretty sure there are voters who are reluctant to vote for Andrea given the controversy. It’s still Michelle and Cate down to the wire.

The problem is not her talent, it’s the racist industry and Academy that can easily ignore Black actors, especially Actresses.
I think she’ll get a nod in one point, especially because she has goodwill right now due to the whole Best Actress mess this year.
"EGOT" and "Triple Crown of Acting" winner: VIOLA DAVIS!!!!
