I’m not saying the campaigning itself was against the rules, I don’t think it was, but that’s how it felt, she also happens to not be like the kind of nominee the Oscars go for.
1) She wasn’t a critics darlings that precursors rejected
2) She wasn’t a precursors push
3) She wasn’t a critics push
4) She wasn’t in a strong Picture contender
5) She wasn’t a cottail nod
6) Her film wasn’t popular and widely seen
7) Shes’s not a veteran.Like I said, even when her campaign wasn’t against the rules, it just felt weird about how it happened.
"EGOT" and "Triple Crown of Acting" winner: VIOLA DAVIS!!!!
January 28, 2023 at 2:18 pm #1205272752How does it make her look bad? Do you think it makes other actors look bad when they do those round table interviews?
GIRL – those round table interviews do not say “VOTE and WATCH my MOVIE NOW! VIOLA & DEADWAYLER are LOCKED so watch mine!! and VOTE for me.”
Give me a break.

Obviously we’re just coming from diametrically different viewpoints because those reasons you listed just make a happier that she managed to pull off a nomination! Such a great surprise for such a deserving nominee.

Thats clearly the subtext for those interviews lmao. Everyone seems fine with the tactical campaigning which is done, but can’t handle it in front of them… Also, are you purposely spreading misinformation by quoting Frances Fisher but making it sound like Andrea Riseborough?

Mama the assumptions you make are so farfetched is no use having discussion with you. Off the way you go in the ignore trash pile.
January 28, 2023 at 3:03 pm #1205272803Some of these other white actresses rallying around Andrea are showing their asses.
There was nothing “grassroots” around this campaign. It was privilege at its finest.
The Academy better do the correct thing and revoke this nomination!
As for this “singular” performance I keep hearing described, it’s one note, over hyped and overrated.

Omg whatever will I do without your attention!! If you’re mad at me using you’re own nonsensical statements against you then don’t say them to begin with…
January 28, 2023 at 3:07 pm #1205272814I hope Danielle is this year’s Brie Larson. You know how she got snubbed in 2014 only to steamroll a victory in 2016. I don’t think Danielle will be forgotten and that she won’t be given a chance. She certainly deserves it!
Brie Larson was a white woman in her 20’s. Deadwyler is a black woman in her 40’s. They cannot be compared. It took Angela Bassett 29 years to get another nomination despite being a stellar actress and you think Deadwyler has a chance at not just a nomination but a win? You think she’ll win a category that is terrified of nominating non white actresses? The only actress of color won 21 years ago? I wish I was so naive.
January 28, 2023 at 3:23 pm #1205272834I actually think with the exclusion of Viola and Danielle, if the voters want a POC to win lead actress, it makes it much easier for the voters to centralize all their votes for Yeoh that would’ve originally voted for Danielle and/or Viola for that to happen.
also some of y’all so dismissive of Danielle getting nominated in the future. She hasn’t even been snubbed for a week or had a follow up project out yet and y’all doing too much saying she will/can never win.

I completely understand this but I do think things are changing. Perhaps not as quickly as we would want them or not as quickly to correct some injustices, but the things are changing. This category is sadly the last frontier, but I refuse to believe that POC leading ladies will be ignored in the future. I do hope some lessons will be learned from this year… Perhaps I am a foolish optimist, but IDK… I choose to believe status quo will not live long. That’s all.
Spreading the Love: Oscars 2023
Best Picture: Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Director: The Daniels
Best Actor: Colin Farrell
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett
Best Supporting Actor: Ke Huy Quan
Best Supporting Actress: Angela BassettJanuary 28, 2023 at 3:36 pm #1205272860So what if they “made more sense”? Shouldn’t we want the Academy to make outside the box choices? This kind of talk just sounds like bitterness from those who didn’t see the nom coming…..
They weren’t making outside the box choices lmao, Andrea used her privilege and A list white peers to help herself get nominated at the expense of women of color getting nominated, which is not a privilege those women have btw
This isn’t a good thing and the “bitterness” is just people deservedly calling this out
Everything Everywhere All At Once for BP
SOS for AOTY
Succession for Best Series
January 28, 2023 at 3:47 pm #1205272883It’s not over for Danielle Deadwyler. She can still get a Supporting Actress nomination for something. It will probably be more of a mountain to get another Best Actress nomination, though… that’s why I hate her snub so much.
January 28, 2023 at 3:49 pm #1205272887crabbie is film123??? didnot see this coming wtf
she deleted both account that is all the validation troll_hunter needs
I’m confused. On a smart phone, if you look up Emmastoner (Crabbie) and film123 under “find user/expert” you can see that both of those accounts are still active and have not been deleted.

Why is that on Andrea and not De Armas or Williams or the Academy who had FIVE nominee choices but left them out?
