It has always been between Yeoh and Blanchett. Deadwyler or Davis not being nominated is undoubtedly tragic but has no bearing on the race.

The AMPAS has no race conscious. If they did they would given the award to Viola or Andra instead of Francis for her same-ish boring performance in 2020.

Just watched Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once and I see why she’s getting praise for her performance. The movie was a strange watch for me, because I wasn’t certain what was going on for most of it. However, her fierce performance does shine through all the messiness. The only other performance I’ve seen is Ana de Armas who was the best part of Blonde. TAR arrives on Peacock tomorrow, so I’ll be able to comment on Blanchett’s performance to see if I think she deserves a third Oscar.

    Life is a thin thread.

Do you guys feel with the narrative of the no black actress nominated. It will help Yoeh to win. Because I feel she deffo needs to win SAG it’s a must. BAFTA I feel it goes to Cate.

No. Every year black contenders and other people of colour are snubbed, and even with all the backlash online, the same thing happens the next year. Hollywood does not care if they’re awarding a white person for the millionth time.

Anyone who would take umbrage to the obvious has never watched the Oscars.

I’ve seen a lot of people who supported Davis and Deadwyler moving their support to Yeoh now. I think people forget that Davis and Deadwyler both contained a large portion of passion and votes that were concentrated at SAG and critics circles that will now move on to Yeoh. It’s a pretty large coalition. I imagine Andrea’s friends will probably vote for her in the final round as well, so even more chipping to Blanchett’s coalition. I still think Blanchett will win though because minorities simply don’t win Best Actress.

That was always coming. Audiences hated Blonde but also many don’t consider her a diverse nominee because of her skin colour (despite only 5 Latinas in history have been nominated for Best Actress) I think it’s best just to ignore film Twitter etc

Film Twitter is such a big bunch of shit people thinking they can convince others with their over the top and uninformed posts.

Go read the comments on Chukwu’s instagram post. Makes you wish there was a white genocide.

Hahaha you’re saying that a “white genocide” is the only way you think a black actress could win.

Incredible strategy for trying to get people to warm to your cause. How’s that working out for you? Threatening people into complying and chucking a tanty when they don’t.

    Here for the comedies

The hate that Ana de Armas is getting on Twitter is disturbing smh

She brought it upon herself. 2 of hollywoods top actresses dropped out of the film and Armas thinks that she should do it? She set her own downfall. Everyone will always remember her as the woman who took advantage of Marilyn Monroe and exploited her even more.

Reeks of racism. You may not consider her a WoC but for many people, Latina is a different race, ignorant as that sounds.

It’s not racism then, it’s xenophobia. Nobody is gonna follow her on a store based on the color of her skin, per example.
