Meryl Streep is an acting God who should have five Oscars by now. The Academy really needs to apologize to her for making her lose 18 times and have the general public thinking she has ten Oscars. They made her wait for 29 years to finally land the third. But same people gave Frances Mcdormand her second and third only three years apart for playing similar roles. Cate Blanchett is even deserving of a third win much more than Mcdormand, but there’s no need for that third win. It’s just unnecessary
I don’t think Franes Mcdormands Performances were similar at all. She was a fire cracker combusting at every moment in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri and she was a Quiet, suffering subtle woman in Nomadland. They are very different performances. I want Michelle Yeoh to win for her once in a life time Performance but if Cate Blanchett wins I’ll be happy as well because she delivers a titanic Performance. It should not matter how many Oscar’s someone has the only thing that should matter is the Performance and Cate has the Performance worthy to win a third Oscar.

'Everything Everywhere All at Once' actress Michelle Yeoh defended the Academy's regulations to ensure that 'we all play by the rules' amid Andrea Riseborough's surprise Oscar nomination. https://t.co/bwYuGcthBq

I don’t know what would have been the better way to express an opinion about this without offending anyone. She gave a diplomatic, simple answer that touches upon the systematic issues and also stated a fact reinstated by the Academy that Andrea’s nomination was not a case of cheating.
Anyways asking a nominee from the same category about this is pretty shitty. I hope people read the whole article before jumping to conclusions.
February 10, 2023 at 9:01 am #1205299369I don’t think the Academy votes anymore on basis of – oh this actress has 2 wins! Let’s wait for another 10 years and give it to someone else. There are so many factors that come into play, primarily the level of competition in the field and how strong your film is.
Cate is incredibly strong on all fronts. Helps people taut her performance as once in a lifetime. She will be fine!

What a great massage from Yeoh …she keeps fighting for 40 years….no complaining, no bitchin mouth around, no racial issue victim at all
This is the definition of ” Hard work paid off”
Go girl…

February 10, 2023 at 9:34 am #1205299460Cate Blanchett has the win locked despite of what some Film Twitter people think. It doesn’t matter if she has already won twice or if she “wants Michelle Yeoh to win” (give me a fucking break lmao). EEAAO will win other awards but not this one. Or director, who I think goes to Todd Field. But that’s just a gut feeling I have. Cate is for sure winning.

Reading this:
- I am reminded that when you mix art and competition, absolutely everyone is right and wrong just as it could be both meaningless and important at the same time
- makes me want Yeoh to get the Oscar even more, beyond of the performance (which I found to be the very best of the category in a landslide, otherwise I wouldn’t be this involved in the race) for what it represents for minorities in the universe of art and just to see her happy for recognizing her career… 🙂

LOL….actually im tried reading ” Cate for the win” ….
My personal best actress wish is Andrea Riseborough or Michelle Yeoh,
but my logical sense tells me that Michelle Yeoh is the truly winner of the year
with 11 noms and $106M box office, she’s the Ultimate centric of this movie, Academy loves and respects best actress winner with this criteria

The same can be said for Tar. Andrea is the wildcard here who likely won’t win but can throw a huge wrench into the outcome. It’s gracious that Yeoh isn’t bothered by her nod but I think she knows it isn’t going to hurt her chances.
