It’s Cate or Andrea for the win. There’s several other places to reward EEAOO other than here.
If Andrea wins her career is over. She’ll be a laughing stock. A 21st century Mary Pickford.
FYC:
Everything Everywhere All At Once in every eligible category
Hold My Hand - Lady Gaga for Best Original Song

I mean she obviously isn’t winning, but the latter is in your dreams hun…
FYC 2023:
Zar Amir Ebrahimi - Shayda (Best Actress)
Helen Mirren - Golda (Best Actress)
Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt - Oppenheimer (Best Actor/Actress)February 10, 2023 at 12:19 pm #1205299659The same can be said for Tar. Andrea is the wildcard here who likely won’t win but can throw a huge wrench into the outcome. It’s gracious that Yeoh isn’t bothered by her nod but I think she knows it isn’t going to hurt her chances.
We’ll see, I do think that Fields is ahead of The Daniels in BD though.

Me too. Although it’s close.

The Sunne in Splendour.
I prefer my roses whiteFebruary 10, 2023 at 1:46 pm #1205299706Meryl needs to never be nominated ever again
Why? Streep deserved most of her nominations even though she gets it easy compared to other Dames like Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren and Annette Benning that need to be in great movies before they can be nominated. The only one she doesn’t deserve is her last one for The Post. I need her to make a baity movie and be back ASAP
Gaga is slaying in Folie à Deux
February 10, 2023 at 3:09 pm #1205299746Well we know who Viola is not voting for
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js I don’t know what would have been the better way to express an opinion about this without offending anyone. She gave a diplomatic, simple answer that touches upon the systematic issues and also stated a fact reinstated by the Academy that Andrea’s nomination was not a case of cheating. Anyways asking a nominee from the same category about this is pretty shitty. I hope people read the whole article before jumping to conclusions.
I highly doubt that Davis would not vote for Yeoh because of this. She’s taking her snub very graciously and rejoicing in being an EGOT. If she wasn’t to vote for Yeoh, it would be because she prefers another performance.

That’s her best performance in ages girl. And she definitely didn’t deserve several of her noms.
February 10, 2023 at 7:14 pm #1205299874It’s hilarious to me how many people think that Andrea Riseborough winning would be a sign of progression in the Academy. All it would be is another undeserving white woman getting a win at the expense of WOC. It would be exactly something the Academy would do, which does scare me a little bit even though it’s for sure between Blanchett and Yeoh.
February 10, 2023 at 7:26 pm #1205299882Even if Meryl had few underserving nomination that would still make her tally circa 15-17 nominations, which is again, impressive and unique in industry. I would agree that Meryl’s 1980s body of work is so brilliant, bit so are early 2000s. I really love her as an actress and I think her achievements are incomparable. I don’t think we can make any objective claims, as this entire conversation is based on subjective points of view and personal tastes, but we can honor the work of these amazing women by not pitting them against each other in attempt to make a point how one of them is the greatest.
I am not sure why people are so determined to tell us who is winning. I don’t think we have that solved out and at this stage we can only offer some predictions and opinions, not definite claims. There’s a lot of passion for both performances, there’s so much respect not just between these two women, but also among all nominees. As I said previously, whoever (Cate or Michelle Yeoh) crosses that final line, I’ll be fine.

February 10, 2023 at 8:47 pm #1205299917Andrea winning the Oscar will be huge for her career. Literally, The General Public don’t know who she is. The General Public only saw her in that Tom Cruise action movie. If Andrea was winning this Oscar, her life will be totally different. So, that person who wrote an Oscar will kill her career it’s 100% wrong

Blanchett and Yeoh seems established. But Riseborough’s perf is not undeserving. Her being in the mix benefits Yeoh more than Blanchett.
