Last day of oscar. And I still dont have any idea on surely who will win. But 2 things this season i felt strongly about. One was robbie won’t be even nominated and Blanchett will definitely score a nom but won’t win.about winner, i think if the voters, actors are passionate enough then andrea can win.but if it goes like usual way awards season runs with both critical and commercial acclaim, then yeoh might win.blanchett is 3rd on my list.

March 12, 2023 at 3:46 am #1205343670C’mon Dr. Yeoh.
March 12, 2023 at 3:56 am #1205343677Gonna go with my gut and stick with Blanchett but I really hope I’m wrong and Yeoh wins

(I hope people don’t drag her personally)
I mean they’re both deserving and Cate is a legend but the Academy needs to get this right and give it to Yeoh. That will make history.

Some people will whine a lil bit but there’s not much they can do since she’s very deserving. Just like what happened with Hopkins.

Undoubtedly, we’ll see some rage on the Internet. That said, I do hope, as Matt Neglia said, that rage will be directed at Academy, not Blanchett.
Truth be told, I don’t know what to expect if Blanchett wins. Hopkins v Boseman ended rather quickly and Boseman was, arguably, more popular than Yeoh, plus the emotions around his Oscar were a bit stronger due to the fact it was, sadly, his last chance. Blanchett does have that “she is deserving, glorious in her role” narrative so that may take some heat off.
Lastly, I do hope Blanchett is prepared for winning (I mean, not expecting, just preparing herself for the possible outcome). I would hate her to go on that stage and makes a blunder or misspeaks adding fuel to the fire. So, just in case she does win, I hope emotions will be checked in and she makes a nice speech that will alleviate the outcry.
This is tough. I don’t want any of these two women being attacked on social media as “woke victory” or “racist victory”. They are both deserving winners, two women of incredible craft. They don’t deserve the hatred.

I do prefer Blanchett, but I will be very happy to see Yeoh win.
I do suspect there will be SOME bitching because I think there seems be some level of hate for TÁR that wasn’t as apparent for Hopkins or THE FATHER.
Art is subjective but it was hard for me to actually believe that someone could watch THE FATHER and not be moved by Hopkins.
Whereas I could believe someone might not be the least bit into TÁR.
In the end, I’m just happy for the suspense!

Blanchett still won the trifecta and got out of this world praise. People will complain about race but I hope they direct it at the industry, the real culprit here for sidelining people of color. Bashing Blanchett is wrong and futile.

March 12, 2023 at 5:41 am #1205343768I’m switching back to Blanchett.
I might regret itI wish they would close the prediction for the Oscars, so I could lock my picks in and not stress all day about it. (just kidding). I’m thinking about switching back to Cate. I just feel the momentum for Everything and Michelle Yeoh is just enough, barely, for the win. I’ll probably change Supporting Actress a few times before the deadline, too. Damn, this is a fun year for the acting categories. Chick-a-boom, chick-a-boom, don’t you just love it.
Life is a thin thread.
We hang on tightly knowing
it will snap one day.March 12, 2023 at 5:43 am #1205343775This post was found to be inappropriate by the moderators and has been removed.March 12, 2023 at 5:57 am #1205343785I would stick with Yeoh. I want Cate to win because in my opinion she gives the best performance in the category but I don’t think the Oscars will pass on the opportunity to give it to a second POC so congrats to Michelle. It’s gonna be an iconic moment that’s for sure.
Happy Cate won something for this fantastic performance though. She proved that women can do it as good as men even if they rarely win the Oscar for it. Lydia Tar is up there with Daniel Plainview, Terence Fletcher and Hannibal Lecter. Only legends lol. I love villains/anti heroes.
