Plus, I doubt wokeness is the problem when, just for example, the year 12 Years a Slave won got higher ratings than the year Lord of the Rings won. Plus as the above user pointed out, ratings have been declining since 2015, before Trump was even elected and the culture war went from alt to mainstream. When did streaming TV start? House of Cards, the first big attention grabbing streaming series, premiered in 2013.

Both ceremony got 43 millions views (probably because Ellen Degeneres was the host in 2015), and just after that, the ratings started to drop every single year more and more. So technically, yeah it started in 2015-2016, but we can’t deny politics and wokeness have something to do with this, not only the streaming era

Of course, after all conservatives never complained about liberal Hollywood actors being too political in awards speeches before 2015.

Gaga should’ve been nominated last year instead of Kidman.

I don’t know why, but I remember you so adamantly saying you weren’t going to watch the eyes of Tammy Faye back when it was coming out so I just find it funny that she’s so low (I assume you did actually watch it)

Awards show ratings need to be taken in context. Yes they are down from what they were decades ago but ratings for all live TV is down from where it was decades ago. The Oscar Telecast is still the most watched non-sports event on broadcast television

    indeed. 2022, non-sports/sports-boosted:

    23. Oscars

    32. Yellowstone

    37. Yellowstone

    48. Yellowstone

    49. Yellowstone
