I disagree completely. While her performance was great, it wasn’t that challenging. Other amazing actresses could have done what she did. It doesn’t change the fact that she was a great choice.

Perhaps it’s my lack of knowledge of actors in this realm, but when it comes to “Asian actresses old enough to play the mom of a 20-something who can do drama, comedy, and also intense martial arts scenes while being able to pull off scenes involving them being red carpet A-list celebrities (which involve pulling actual footage of them from movie premieres)” she’s the only person I can think of who fits the bill. And maybe the role was fitted towards her, but that’s kind of proving the point I’m trying to make.

Despite being in a multiverse, her expression stayed the same. Talk about being overrated. Ana De Armas was robbed and Danielle Deadwyler was bullied

So, apparently there is a rumor that Tarantino wants Blanchett for his new movie. I read this on Jordan Ruimy’s website so I am not exactly sure about validity of the claims, but oh boy, would that be a glorious collaboration.

Regardless of whether this is true or not, I do admit this would be interesting. I think Tarantino would be able to draw out a complete new animal out of Cate which would be truly glorious to see. I don’t want to raise my hopes, but too late…

that is why her win or not for tar made no difference to her or anyone else

she already has the career and will come back in one or two years with films by great directors where everyone says it is her best performance again

she will win the third one sooner or later everyone knows but michelle yeoh will never be in this conversation again

I think most TAR fans are plainly disappointed that the movie went empty-handed. I don’t mind Yeoh winning, but I would have liked to see Todd winning for Directing perhaps. That would really be cool. Cate became TAR prize so everything hinged on her chances. I know the movie has its detractors, I know some people found it boring and pretentious, but I do believe it earned at least one Oscar.

I don’t believe in “best performances”, but if I were voter I would have voted for Cate. That said, if I had had any say into who gets nominated, Danielle Deadwyler and Tang Wei would most certainly be in the lineup. But that’s just me.
