I didn’t know all that. I might not even watch Blonde at all. This sounds like some kind of arthouse torture porn film.

i mean the book itself is graphic plus it’s a 3 hours arthouse movie with little dialogue and it has a NC-17 rating makes spencer looks alike a jojo rabbit to it

Ana herself got great reviews, but as I suspected this film is 100x as controversial as Spencer was. She’s not touching the Oscars for this no matter how good the performance.

I don’t know if I’m alone, but I think the race is really solidifying between Ackie, Blanchett, Davis, Robbie, and Yeoh. Not to say Colman or Deadwyler or Lawrence are done, but with the latter four of the first group being in Best Picture nominees and Ackie being in an Anthony McCarten movie, they seem much stronger than a couple Oscar winners with no passion behind their performances and a newbie in the second major feature film of a director who’s star in their first directorial effort was snubbed.

There’s still Mulligan in “She said” to consider imo

I hear you. I don’t know if I can stomach graphic rape scenes though and someone said that oral sex is also forced upon her? It’s not even the talking fetus weird shit, it’s the graphic nature of the other stuff I’m hearing. It’s not something I’m rushing to watch or excited to see this season.

    oh yes it’s very disturbing

My my my. So a couple of months ago no one was even (hilariously and ironically) predicting Viola for a nomination but all of a sudden almost everyone is on the Viola train?

Viola in all probability will go all the way this year. Although i was/am rooting for Margot but it seems she is just playing Harley Quinn circa 1920s.

Causeway is now at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes and every single critic pointed out how great is Jennifer Lawrence, with some calling it the best performance of her career. I think she’s stronger than we think…

Darling, I can see Lawrence manages to break into the top 5 for a subtle performance. She’s more interesting with these kind of non-showy and understated roles. O’rusel’s overacting style is grating and doesn’t fit her.

    Oh no, she definitely isn’t.

    Oh no, she definitely isn’t.

She absolutely is, though. She has always been at her best in movies like Winter’s Bone or Causeway that lets her underplay things. It’s DOR who decided she should only play middle aged women who scream at people.

I can’t believe the race may come down to Blanchett and Yeoh.We truly are blessed.

I still don’t know what to do with Olivia Colman. Empire of Light is not in my BP predictions right now, especially with Fabelmans and Babylon already filling that ‘Da Movies’ niche. This movie is definitely going to test her New Meryl title because we all like to joke that Meryl Streep or Denzel Washington could walk onscreen for 2 minutes, eat a ham sandwich and get nominated. Olivia Colman hasn’t had a Roman J. Israel Esq. yet. She’s been nominated for 2 major BP contenders and a movie that over-performed with AMPAS. It’ll be interesting to see if she can still get in the final five in a very competitive field.
