https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js Kirby might surprise.
Kirby and Phoenix are such a miscast.
He is too old to play Napoleon (he became a General before 30) and she is too young to play Josephine (she was older than Napoleon and that is a very important aspect of their relationship since he was an inexperienced man and she had lots of boyfriends before they were married).
Phoenix has the age to play Napoleon in his exile.
September 27, 2022 at 6:29 am #1205099513My 2 cents: we’re still in September, anyone could still happen and anyone could still be snubbed. I think Yeoh and Blanchett are the most safe ones, but we haven’t seen at least 3/4 possible contenders yet.
as the time being:
1. Cate Blanchett
2. Michelle Yeoh
3. Michelle Williams (if she isn’t put in supporting)
4. Margot Robbie
5. Villa Davis
September 27, 2022 at 6:32 am #1205099524Btw I’ve just seen TWK, Viola is superlative per usual, but the supporting actresses are sooo good! I would love for Thuso Mbedu to get a nod in supporting
September 27, 2022 at 6:37 am #1205099533I also need to see Till because Danielle Deadwyler is getting rave reviews for her performance. Like some people are saying, look out for her!

Yeap ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
September 27, 2022 at 7:30 am #1205099576I haven’t watched The Woman King yet but I’ve seen a lot of comments that Viola Davis is not fully the protagonist, I think this can hurt her too.

They could have cast Emily Watson.

It did not hurt her for The Help, it did not hurt her for Ma Rainey and it will not hurt her now (for a nomination). A win would be difficult given that, but we’re far away from that stage anyway. She is also the title character and clearly marketed as the lead. Just because she has slightly less screen time than Thuso doesn’t make Thuso the clear lead. People also know this is Viola’s movie. She got it made.
So I also found some exaggerated comments, there are people even saying that Thuso Mbedu is the lead, so I was afraid of Davis’ chances.
September 27, 2022 at 8:17 am #1205099628While Viola is likely top 3-4 at present, calling her a “lock” is a stretch.

Considering the great reviews the movie and Viola, herself is getting, I don’t see why not. Several celebrities and even CODA headwriter, Sian Heder are praising the film

September 27, 2022 at 9:29 am #1205099720Yeoh is far from a lock. I think that the overwhelmingly positive reaction it received in social media is blinding many of you from the fact that EEAAO differs, in many ways, from the films the Academy usually showers with nominations.
