I hate the Hero casting — he has the range of a piece of wood — but I would not be shocked if that was something the studio required. He has a somewhat decent following thanks to the After series and is a hot young white dude (hot, depending on whom you ask, lol). Hollywood just being Hollywood. 🤷🏽

I haven’t seen it yet. But I want to. Viola looks really good in the trailer, so I have no doubt she’ll be serving. Regarding Hero, he’s not a very good actor to begin with but it’s a bummer to know they didn’t get someone who can actually speak Portuguese or has any connection to Portugal or Brazil. So, it’s obviously no surprise to us Portuguese speakers that his Portuguese is atrocious. But anyway. I just hope the movie lives up to my expectations. Really excited to watch it.

I think you’ll like it. It’s a very grand/entertaining epic that deviates a bit from its historical context to create the most compelling story possible. It’s not exactly innovative technically, but it’s very well executed in all areas. And it’s really beautiful to see Viola Davis give a freer performance, really connect with her art in a more instinctive way.

I have the exact same thought. And Viola keeps posting about how good the reviews are on Rotten Tomatoes (99% audience score?!) but on IMDB The Woman King is at 6,2 and on Metacritic the audience score is 2,6… it’s not universally acclaim like people think

IMDB and Metacritic don’t require verification for audience reviews. Rotten Tomatoes requires proof of ticket purchase and Cinemascore is centered around audience polling. It’s like you want to be obtuse on purpose or have an agenda.

Rotten Tomatoes requires proof of ticket purchase.

how does that work with streaming movies then?

You thought that was a useful response? Cate is happening whether you like it or not. Just stop. Go after Michelle Williams or Olivia Colman if you wanna go after a white person.
