I’m going with AQOTWF winning a la Pan’s Labyrinth. The latter also missed the guild, won BAFTA and then the Oscar.

I think so. Drive My Car won it last year so I’m not bucking the trend this year.

To all of the people who:
-regret missing it in theaters
-fell asleep watching it on an airplane
-accidentally left at “THE END”
-want to hate-watch the film Cats style with your friendsnow is your chance!

FYC:
Best Picture: Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Decision to Leave
Best Director: Park Chan-Wook Todd Field
Best Original Screenplay: Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Actor: Colin Farrell

Best Supporting Actor: Brendan Gleeson, Ke Huy Quan
Best Supporting Actress: Kerry Condon, Nina HossJanuary 27, 2023 at 2:56 pm #1205271108Now that I’ve seen all the Best Picture nominees, this is how I would personally rank them:
1. Everything Everywhere All At Once
2. Avatar: The Way of Water
3. All Quiet on the Western Front
4. Triangle of Sadness
5. Women Talking
6. Elvis
7. Top Gun: Maverick
8. The Fabelmans
9. The Banshees of Inisherin
10. TÁRI actually like all the nominees and think they’re all deserving. This lineup is probably up there with the 2020 ceremony and 2018 ceremony lineups.
My Director ranking:
1. Daniel Kwan & Daniel Scheinert
2. Ruben Östlund
3. Todd Field
4. Steven Spielberg
5. Martin McDonaghAgain another good lineup, although I would much have preferred to see Edward Berger instead of McDonagh.
January 27, 2023 at 6:03 pm #1205271387Is EEAAO too weird and too sci-fi for older academy members? IDK the answer to it but I saw it again today and I am uncertain it will have enough appeal to win. I think Banshees will be far more appealing to older voters.
My order of preference:
1. The Banshees of Inisherin
2. All Quiet On The Western Front
3. Women Talking
4. Everything Everywhere All At Once
5. Elvis
6. The Fabelmans
7. Avatar: The Way Of Water
8. Triangle Of Sadness
9. Top Gun: Maverick
10. TarBest Director:
1. Martin McDonagh, The Banshees of Inisherin
2. Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, EEAAO
3. Steven Spielberg, The Fabelmans
4. Ruben Ostlund, Triangle Of Sadness
5. Todd Field, TarI believe that Martin McDonagh is being hugely underestimated here on goldderby – I am guessing his work appeals more to older moviegoers.

You’re just being a Banshees Fanboy
January 28, 2023 at 2:50 am #1205272067You probably right freemangriffin I just saw eeaao and I love it but I don’t know if academy members will get it because too weird and too sci-fi
I think they will vote for banshee or fabelmans
And I got bored with banshee but it could winJanuary 28, 2023 at 2:56 am #1205272074To me it would be hugely disappointing if EEAAO doesn’t win in the end, but as long as they don’t commit such an unforgivable atrocity of picking Top Gun instead, I think I could manage.
January 28, 2023 at 3:02 am #1205272079You’re just being a Banshees Fanboy
So what if he is? Are people forbidden to love other movies and think they could win?
January 28, 2023 at 12:05 pm #1205272641Why are people still saying EEAAO too weird, too sci-fi, too out there for older Oscar voters when LITERALLY it just got 11 OSCAR NOMS. And this is practically almost ONE year later after it was in the theaters AND is now OUT in theaters again this weekend???
I swear even if the older Oscar voters published a unified letter stating “from the older voters of the Academy, we LOVE EEAAO! We collectively just LOVE this movie” some of y’all will still say the same damn thing. LOL aint you tired??

I won’t speak for everyone but all I have said about EEAAO is the support isn’t quite as enthusiastic by older viewers, anecdotally, via Box Office info or via stuff like this. That’s not the same as saying the film is disliked or not liked enough to win, it’s just suggesting the highest level of exuberance is in millenials and Gen Z.
