To be fair, EEAAO stans have been annoying all season as well, especially the Film Twitter ones. If you don’t worship EEAAO like they do you are shunned and ridiculed. Honestly, it borders on cult-like behaviour.
I hold pundits to a higher standard than random GD accounts or twitter accounts. Across the board pundits seem to be pushing their favs without even trying to disguise it. Sasha Stone is pushing for Top Gun: Maverick but not backing it up very well, and Ryan is doing the same thing for TAR.

Admirable sentiment Babylonian. I read medical abstracts daily and always check who they’re getting money from. Shills are shameless. Entertainment journos can’t help themselves.

You can hear his podcasts from April and besides being mixed on the film, he was also in full denial mode. He is a critic and not a very good pundit. He also loves TAR (in reference to the previous post) He has his bias and for one’s own sanity, just stick with pandits/critics that share your opinion.
February 10, 2023 at 9:19 am #1205299410Every fandom has annoying stans. Its fine to not like the movie but a lot of eeao’s haters are contrarian buzzkills and racist.
Thank you for illustrating my point.
February 10, 2023 at 10:47 am #1205299562I would prefer a Todd Field win over Spielberg and especially the Daniels anyday but it’s not going to happen.
It’s always for the best to not have these high expectations from the Academy. It’s Blanchett or bust.

EEAAO, Daniels (Directing), McDonagh (Screenplay)
EEAAO, Spielberg (Directing), Daniels (Screenplay)Even though, TAR is doing solid in Europe and I think it can get support of European bloc, I still think it is probably going to get that support for Blanchett. I am not so sure whether they will be able to push Field across any other finishing line, honestly I doubt that. Especially since they have Ostlund in the mix. Of two European movies – All Quiet on the Western Front and Triangle of Sadness, neither has a female lead, which is where I think TAR may get its votes from European/British bloc.
I don’t see anything else but EEAAO winning Best Picture. All the other movies have more against them then things working for them. Unless BAFTA and Guilds significantly deteriorate from the expected courses, this is pretty much it.
Spreading the Love: Oscars 2023
Best Picture: Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Director: The Daniels
Best Actor: Colin Farrell
Best Actress: Cate Blanchett
Best Supporting Actor: Ke Huy Quan
Best Supporting Actress: Angela BassettFebruary 11, 2023 at 1:28 pm #1205300437Just for an interesting perspective I went and checked every year since 2000 (well the ceremonies of 2001 I guess) and looked at which film won the Globe, SAG Ensemble, Critics Choice, and BAFTA compared to the Oscars and this is what I found:
CC: 14 out of 22 years, the winners lined up
SAG: 11 out of 22
BAFTA: 9 out of 22
GG (Drama): 8 out of 22
GG (Comedy): 3 out of 22
February 11, 2023 at 3:10 pm #1205300515Be for real.. Field isn’t winning director in a million years. I don’t know why people cannot imagine a producer/director/writer going home empty handed. It’s happened a million times before and it’ll happen again. Blanchett will be Tár‘s sole win.
I’m not sure why you think Todd has no chance. I’m not betting the farm but he’s a threat to win. He’s one of their own, Tar has overperformed nom wise and he’s been very close before.
Personally I can’t dismiss him.The Sunne in Splendour.
I prefer my roses whiteFebruary 11, 2023 at 5:46 pm #1205300594It’s the preferential ballot that may do EEAAO in. For every voter that places it at the top of their ballot I can just as many if not more place it at the bottom. I doubt many voters, esp males, will rank TGM last. The PGAs will be interesting.

! I suspect TGM is being under estimated. If it wins PGA, I’m picking it for Picture.

I prefer my roses whiteFebruary 12, 2023 at 3:00 am #1205300762I think Todd Field is winning director. Have been saying it for a while.
February 12, 2023 at 3:03 am #1205300764If Top Gun wins PGA then I’m predicting it for WGA too since it’s gonna need that Screenplay Oscar to take BP. It’s going to do well on a preferential ballot that rewards consensus.
February 12, 2023 at 8:14 am #1205300865With that speech from Scorsese at New York Film Critics Circle for Tár and that win in London Film Critics Circle for Field in Director, I think he has the potential to upset in Best Director, especially seeing the last winners in this category and how Tár seems loved and not just for Blanchett perfomance.
