For you all that watched Tár, how many nominations (and maybe wins) the movie could have? I’m really curious to see how Tár will perfom this season.
6 to 7 noms and if ampas love it 9 noms i think it can have a bigger chance in winning actress and maybe screenplay

IMO the max nomination haul it could get is (in rough order of potential strength?): Actress, Original Screenplay, Picture, Director, Sound, Supporting Actress, Cinematography, Editing

What about Original Score? I thought it would be inegible but the Academy confirmed it isn’t.

Guðnadóttir’s score for TAR is pretty subtle and unobtrusive. I wouldn’t say it’s meant to stand out compared to the other sound work. Considering voters will have the option to vote for her work on Women Talking, I’d imagine this would wouldn’t make the lineup.
October 5, 2022 at 1:51 pm #1205108105Top Gun can win BP tho the road is extremely narrow & slim for it compared to the frontrunners despite unorthodox stans still having the nerve to shut it out when its the only film alongside EEAAO to have survived the festival fests
Top Gun isn’t getting nominated in screenplay, so it’s chances are dead. Let it go.

October 5, 2022 at 1:59 pm #1205108115Top Gun winning BP has to be a very funny prediction it’s not even getting nominated at screenplay or director lol it’s the ford vs ferrari of this year

it all depends of the reception and avatar too

It depends on the acclaim. B.O. is guaranteed. If the film manages to tackle T’Challa/Chadwick’s loss in a profound way, people might start to take it more seriously.
October 5, 2022 at 6:52 pm #1205108328I loved Decision to Leave but this is a movie that requires a lot of patience and attention. It can be a bit challenging to follow at times due to the complexity of its screenplay/story. I’m not kidding when I say this has one of my favourite endings in ages. I was shocked. Still processing it. The performances were amazing and the chemistry between the leads was very good but Tang Wei stole the entire movie for me. Probably my favourite performance of the year, so far. A very layered and gut wrenching turn. I had some issues with the editing at times though. I think it was bit uneven in some scenes, especially in the first half.
This is a movie that a lot of people won’t like and I understand why but I would definitely recommend it.

Look, I think it can get a lot more nominations than people are predicting, like Adapted Screenplay as a default BP option and Cinematography (also SAG Ensemble and BAFTA Best Film), but no, it’s not winning Best Picture.
October 5, 2022 at 8:21 pm #1205108377CODA winning Best Picture has deluded everyone lol. CODA had something to say about the DEAF community, while Top Gun has something to say about….Daddy Issues.
