    My big bet is that Top Gun: Maverick wins here

    I am wondering aloud as to why people think Top Gun: Maverick will be nominated for BP?

    They should just give Top Gun 2, Avatar 2, and Black Panther 2 their deserved tech nominations and let them compete for the fan-favorite award

    That’s just you being snob tho.
    Idk about Black Panther but Top Gun has the public and the critic, has industry support and it’s well made.
    People just don’t want it to happen because it’s not a Oscar bait drama or a indie movie. And I’m not even a fan of the movie, i thought it was decent.

    FYC:
    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
    The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
    Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.

    Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

    I don’t want it to happen because the film is blatant military propoganda. Like the first one, it’s a commercial for the US Navy and Boeing.

    As a film, it’s decent formulaic popcorn fun, but if it hadn’t become a surprise box office phenomenon, it wouldn’t be in the conversation.

    Currently, I think Best Pic will come down to EEAAO, The Fablemans and Top Gun Maverick while Director will come down to the Daniels (EEAAO), Steven Speilberg (The Fablemans) and Sarah Polley (Women Talking).

    Pic:
    1. EEAAO
    2. Top Gun Maverick
    3. The Fablemans

    Director:
    1. Steven Speilberg
    2. The Daniels
    3. Sarah Polley

    I think Elvis is a lot higher on the list than people think. I see a common factor of many people that are predicting it having it in that 9th or 10th spot. Those spots are for the films with very few nominations, and I feel like Elvis is clearing at least 6-7 nominations

    I’m waiting to see how it does at the Globes. It’s the place where it should really thrive.

    The Fabelsman will end up like The Power of the Dog with only a directing win.

    And if that’s so, I wouldn’t be mad at that. It would be the perfect win since it’ll be for Spielberg!

    Emmy’s FYC:

    Abbott Elementary: Series, Brunson, Williams, James, Ralph, Perfetti, Walter
    Only Murders in the Building: Series, Martin, Short, Gomez
    The Bear: Series, White, Edibiri

    Personally, Elvis is my favorite movie of the year. This Twitter thread also confirms the industry passion for it:

    Darling, Sweetie Spielberg doesn’t need a third directing Oscar. Especially for his overly sentimental movie about him and his annoying mom and her goofy wig.

    Daniels, Field, Chan-wook, Berger, Wells, are far worthier for their daring and bold efforts.

    Are we all getting overly confident about Speilberg winning director?
