I’m sorry I have to go back to the Variety Directors on Directors thing because pairing Taylor Swift with McDongah…what the hell is that? Martin sweetie, I’m so sorry.

Also pairing Sarah Polley who directed Women Talking with abuser supporter FFC who…doesn’t even have a project out this year? They’ve gotta be trolling.

NBR usually has a 70% rate when it comes to Best Picture nominees. Last year Power of the Dog missed NBR and still was the frontrunner till PGA.

Yes, but to also miss NBR’s top ten list of Independent Films is extremely striking.

NBR Top 10 Independent Films (in alphabetical order):

    “Armageddon Time” (Focus Features)
“Emily the Criminal” (Roadside Attractions/Vertical Entertainment)
    “The Eternal Daughter” (A24)
    “Funny Pages” (A24)
    “The Inspection” (A24)
    “Living” (Sony Pictures Classics)
    “A Love Song” (Bleecker Street)
    “Nanny” (Amazon Studios)
    “The Wonder” (Netflix)
    “To Leslie” (Momentum Pictures)

I don’t have anything to say about Top Gun:Maverick  winning that plenty of people aren’t saying elsewhere but…yeah. I liked it and it’s a fine action blockbuster but come on, man.

    DECEMBER 8 PREDICTIONS Picture

    1. The Fabelmans
    2. Everything Everywhere All at Once
    3. Top Gun: Maverick
    4. The Banshees of Inisherin
    5. The Woman King
    6. She Said
    7. TAR
    8. Elvis
    9. Avatar: The Way of Water
    10. The Woman King

Woman King twice? That would be a surprise!

It is more DGA than Oscar

Not counting it out but unlikely with the depth this year. I think the story for him is pretty strong and he definitely feels like a potential DGA surprise, but I just can’t buy him making it into the full AMPAS lineup. If it does, Maverick is for sure win competitive for Picture.

Another group saying NO to Babylon. Each day that passes I’m getting more convinced Babylon is coming for them BTL’s and nothing else. If we don’t see Babylon nominated for Comedy Globe, it’s likely a wrap. The Whale stays a wrap. She Said stays a wrap

If the whale misses afi tomorrow it is done lol and no the father missed because of screeners

Until the televised precursors start to happen CC, Globes and Bafta. I’m not moving a needle. Critics Circles will push acclaimed flicks, but if last year showed us anything at least 1-2 average to low rated films will get in. Could be Elvis, The Whale, Babylon or something else. Let’s see how this plays out in the coming weeks.

I’m confident Top: Gun isn’t winning, but Cruise is flying toward a best actor nom and Top Gun winning editing and sound.

Are we underestimating Glass Onion for a BP nom tho’? It’s Netflix main push and it’s been doing great. GG and SAG will most probably love it, it will most likely make AFI and PGA.
