People haven’t seen Avatar 2 yet, so spare the whole “It isn’t winning BP” and “It’s winning best BP” posts. I can assure you, Cameron isn’t missing, though. I’m just wondering how big of a movie it’ll be.
November 24, 2022 at 10:57 am #1205165908Just watched TAR…It’s the best Oscars BP film I’ve seen since “The Father” from 2020. Besides being a lock for BP, I think it deserves a BD nom more than Martin McDonaugh for Banshees. (I compare it with Banshees because neither of these 2 seem safe for BD.)
2023:
"TAR", "Banshees","Batman"November 24, 2022 at 2:32 pm #1205165952Glass Onion slaying the Box Office in a very very limited release.
They are getting in this year i fear, revenge for the original snub. Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

i don’t think that beneficts his oscars chance. The movie clearly has a big box office potential and netflix killed it
November 24, 2022 at 6:12 pm #1205166059I think I’m going to take a break from the forums and the site as a whole until the Globe nominations come out on December 12th. A break is so long overdue, as I’ve spent so much time on here and in the awards world in general (almost non-stop daily posting in some facet). Recently, I’ve become more argumentative in my interactions than I’d care to admit and I’ve long been an advocate for awards predicting being a fun thing that no one has any control over. I’d like to take this time to take a break from posting, constantly feeling the need to check awards news, and — as far as my personal life goes — mentally recharge and prepare for finals in regards to college.
I encourage all regular posters to take the time in the near future to log off from this site and prioritize self-care if that’s something they feel they need to improve on. Sending my love to everyone here always. Enjoy the holidays, if you celebrate, as well. Please take care of yourselves. See you all for the Globe noms! (hopefully they’ll have taste).

November 24, 2022 at 7:36 pm #1205166082Glass Onion was good, but probs not a contender outside of Globe comedy cats and maaaaaaybbbeeee SAG ensemble.

hear it says a similar thing ”
This would have opened to over $50 million if it was released in 3000+ theaters. Netflix should really be embarrassed about this decision, especially coming at a time when adult counter programming is struggling at the box-office.
Back in August, I predicted big numbers for ‘Glass Onion’ if Netflix was willing to give it a full-on theatrical rollout. Imagine if it had, the narrative would have been too hard to resist: Netflix’s first big box-office smash. Instead, we’re getting an exclusive one week engagement in around 600 theaters. It’s such a shame.” https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2022/11/zjf71cvc2p845qaophwgfk4c616gyc
November 24, 2022 at 11:26 pm #1205166204Didn’t watch Fabelmans yet but i doubt I will like more than West Side Story That one is up there as one of my favorites Spielberg movies EVER.
Do you watch Dalenogare reviews? He gave The Fabelmans a perfect score, just as he had with West Side Story. Both are up there in Spielberg’s filmography.
November 25, 2022 at 5:52 am #1205166344That seems like a solid recommendation!
A staggering achievement- AVATAR TWOW is chokefull of majestic Vistas and emotions at an epic, epic scale. A master at thepeak of his powers… https://t.co/tG6I16JlhM

I’m sure that GDT legitimately likes the film very much but FYI, Avatar TWOW Director James Cameron once gave Guillermo del Toro a million dollars to pay the ransom after Mexican hoodlums had kidnapped del Toro’s father. Again, I’m NOT disputing the legitimacy of GDT’s opinion; I’m just noting that he’s probably predisposed to like the film.
November 25, 2022 at 6:46 am #1205166376Based on lunch with some industry people, I would not be surprised if Top Gun: Maverick got an Oscar nomination for best picture.

Cameron is a very powerful man in Hollywood. Even if someone(anyone) in Hollywood hated Avatar 2, that person will not be going public
