The funny thing is that I’ve been the biggest supporter of Avatar 2 on this forum, and yet I thought it was just good. And yet, the love its getting even also on social media makes me think Cameron is def getting in for Director.
The director’s branch is so incredibly quirky though. I don’t think Cameron deserves to be nominated, there are too many issues with this movie – everything from it’s dialogue to it’s storyline – and there are many other potential nominees that the director’s branch could embrace. Almost every year lately there is at least one foreign language film nominee and at least one “big film” that seems like a sure thing gets snubbed. At least for now I don’t have Cameron in my predictions. I always get nervous and make changes when the DGA nominations are announced but lately that hasn’t been all that helpful! (;

I might have not loved the film, but the first one for me was way worse and somehow he got in. Reactions to the film are really good, even people here on this forum which tend to be more high brow love it. I’m confident he’s getting in.</p> And honestly, again movie is a 7/10 out me but I absolutely would vote for Cameron. It was one hell of an achievement.
December 18, 2022 at 5:53 pm #1205200343The Menu’s box office performance really is admirable.
So happy for Anya Taylor-Joy. She made really good movie choices. (Horror, drama, comedy, action, animated)
December 18, 2022 at 7:37 pm #1205200408So finally after months Golderby woke up and EEAO is finally #1 in the rankings. Now waiting for them to wake up again and realize Fableman isn’t #2 either, but Banshees.
December 18, 2022 at 7:43 pm #1205200414Darling, watch Terrifier 2 grab that 10th slot.
December 18, 2022 at 10:12 pm #1205200513EEAAO truly feels more and more unbeatable as time goes on. I thought it would be the CODA-like David to beat the POTD-like Goliath last minute, but if it wins Globes and SAG, it might be over. Imo even SAG would be enough for me to predict it.
For Your Consideration:
The Banshees of Inisherin in ALL categories, including:
- Best Picture
- Best Director
- Best Actor (Colin Farrell)
- Best Supporting Actor (Brendan Gleeson)
- Best Supporting Actor (Barry Keoghan)
- Best Supporting Actress (Kerry Condon)
- Best Supporting Actress (Sheila Flitton)
- Best Original ScreenplayLetterboxd: Ray_In_Bruges
December 19, 2022 at 12:24 am #1205200550I would actually love this to be a two-way race between Banshees and EEAAO.
Refreshing AF.
Here for the comedies
December 19, 2022 at 1:15 am #1205200566I’m confident we’re NOT going to end up with this consensus lineup

Babylon
The Banshees of Inisherin
Elvis
Everything Everywhere All at Once
The Fabelmans
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
TÁR
Top Gun: Maverick
Women TalkingDecember 19, 2022 at 4:26 am #1205200593Imagine wishing for Everything Everywhere nonsense to win the biggest award. Is it a very bad year for movies? Are the Oscars now that easy to get? That crappy movie shouldn’t even be in the conversation. Stupid film just like the title

What I’m surprised about is y’all rooting for a film like Everything Everywhere to win BP. Everything didn’t accomplish anything other than WOKENESS.
Avatar is very difficult to make. Such a groundbreaking visual achievement should be celebrated. James Cameron pushes boundaries with technology all the time and that should be a major criteria for best director. Besides, they did the first film dirty. Now is time to correct that mistake

December 19, 2022 at 4:40 am #1205200609Darling, stop.
I didn’t like anything about that film. Till is even a better film but this forum hates films with award baity characters.
