It’s a good thing that Ke Huy Quan is win-competitive, or all of the EEAAO performers would be on the chopping block.

I’ve never bought into the idea that Michelle Yeoh could win Best Actress or that Quan and Hsu would be coattailing her.

If anything, Yeoh and Hsu would be coattailing Quan.

He’s the one with the narrative.

He’s the one playing one of the most kindhearted, loveable characters in recent cinematic memory.

And the performance he gives during the “please, be kind” speech is anything but silly.

Can someone who has read the Babylon script please tell me if Tobey Maguire has a shot? Or does he have like a cameo? I thought it would be fun to predict him and put him in my list but I am basing it on nothing. 😂

You’re not basing it on nothing. I have the same vibe. I could totally see it happening, although it would also depend on knowing just how much he has to work with in it.

The way I’ve settled is that I’m currently not predicting him, but if reviews single him out as stealing any of his scenes, I’m throwing him quickly in.

I wonder if Barry Keoghan can coattail if the Academy loves Banshees as much as the festival audiences have.

Farrell, Gleeson and Condon are looking solid for nominations.

Maybe the whole quartet gets in?

He also got very strong reviews and after the solid top 3 here there’s some variability…and this category always has several coattail noms. I have him in and feel very good about it!

I think the difference is.. Yeoh is out there campaigning! She is visible and getting mentions/notices by industry. Quan’s campaign hasn’t started in full swing. He definitely has a stronger narrative and his win will comparatively be easy than Yeoh who is part of a stacked field. But he needs to be more present on frontlines for that.

Also a lot of conversation about EEAAO is around Yeoh.

Well dang, switch out your 37/1 odds for the current 90/1 odds then!

I watch Oscar Experts for reviews and predictions, and they mentioned that Gleeson has a good performance but not win worthy. You don’t leave the film thinking about him.

I am surprised people are putting him ahead of Ben Whishaw who alongside Foy and Buckley got the most raves out of Women Talking.

It would be hilariously ironic if Jessie Buckley and Claire Foy canceled each other out and the only actor nominated for Women Talking was the one man in the ensemble.

Judd Hirsch or Paul Dano? I’m not sure which one to choose.

I didn’t see much praise for the men of The Fabelmans.

Judd Hirsch has more chances than Paul Dano.

I can see Anthony Hopkins being nominated by Armageddon Time.

I guess Hirsch? He got much better reviews than Dano.
