Is Anthony Hopkins being underestimated for a nomination? He got good reviews for Armageddon Time and is also reprising his recent winning role (even if it’s a cameo in The Son) his visibility could be high again…

    FYC:

Swinton, Weerasethakul Memoria, (Best Actress, Director)
Efira, Rampling, Wilson Benedetta (Best Actress, Supporting Actress/Actor)
    Rapace Lamb (Best Actress)
Stewart, Hawkins, Spall Spencer (Best Actress, Supporting Actress/Actor)

Nope not happening. I like Tom Hanks and didn’t think he was horrible. But not an Oscar role.

I just saw Terrance Davie’s remarkable Benediction, which has finally opened in the US, about the life of WWI poet Siegfried Sassoon, and Jeremy Irvine would make a worthy Oscar nominee as British actor and notorious heartbreaker Ivan Novello; he delivers some of this year’s most scathing and amusing lines: talk about shade! Since the movie was released in Britain in 2021, Irvine has already received a Best Supporting actor nomination from the International Cinephile Society Awards, with Anders Danielsen Lie, winning for The Worst Person in the World. Irvine has come a long way from his youth performance in War Horse.

His character in The Son is not Anthony from The Father. This is not a sequel.

Darling, Daddy Dearest Hong in Everything Everwhere All At Once deserves to be included in the best supporting actor lineup instead of those tired boring names that keep contending every year.

Darling, so sad to hear the passing of Godfather James Caan, whose explosive supporting performance in The Godfather is a tour-de-force even to this day, and also delivering an intense, Oscar-worthy performance in Misery. RIP.
