This is pretty much a repeat of Troy last year for CODA, but maybe a bigger sweep.
December 2, 2022 at 4:18 am #1205174970What makes me feel confident about Paul Dano getting in is how he’s late for a nomination and he has been in industry for so many years that I see a path like some actors in these last years with big contenders (Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, Ciarán Hinds, Amanda Seyfried)

December 2, 2022 at 7:41 am #1205175120No one will stop King Quan, the only way he loses is if he gets snubbed, which is almost impossible.
"EGOT" and "Triple Crown of Acting" winner: VIOLA DAVIS!!!!

Ke Huy Quan & Friends
December 2, 2022 at 8:02 am #1205175164Ke Huy Quan is giving Daniel Kaluuya. Best Actor, Actress, and Supporting Actress will be a mess, but Best Supporting Actor will be a SWEEP.

FYC:
Best Picture: Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Decision to Leave
Best Director: Park Chan-Wook Todd Field
Best Original Screenplay: Banshees of Inisherin, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Best Actor: Colin Farrell
Best Actress: Michelle Yeoh, Cate Blanchett, Tang Wei
Best Supporting Actor: Brendan Gleeson, Ke Huy Quan
Best Supporting Actress: Kerry Condon, Nina HossDecember 2, 2022 at 8:08 am #1205175176I don’t think I’d be surprised if one of the trifecta decides to elevate someone else (Tyree Henry would be a great candidate). But no doubt Quan is going to be a favorite with critics.
December 2, 2022 at 8:10 am #1205175180Now I don’t even think he’s losing BAFTA. He’s really sweeping.

Yea I doubt Quan sweeps all the major critics. Even when a performance sweeps everything else, at least ONE of the critics goes a different way (I think Mirren in the Queen is famously one of the only performances to sweep all 4?). I feel like Gleeson might take another one

December 2, 2022 at 10:45 am #1205175855Michelle Pfeiffer fabulous baker boys
Off topic but the fact that she still lost the Oscar after all of this plus the Drama Globe is so disappointing 😭
December 2, 2022 at 5:03 pm #1205176335I think it’s Quan’s to lose, but this time last year everyone was just as confident in Kodi ‘Sweep’-McPhee so I’m trying to not put too much stock into critics awards so far.
I do think there’s a real shot for Brian Tyree Henry. I never took him out of my predictions from months ago and I’m feeling pretty good about it. He’s got real passion and with the field thin anyway … why not?
December 2, 2022 at 10:44 pm #1205176474Ke Huy Quan sweeping makes me so happy ❤ He deserves everything and more.
December 2, 2022 at 10:48 pm #1205176476I think what helps Ke Huy Quan is that when an underdog narrative gains steam, it’s really difficult for them to fall. Kodi had the trifecta and globe wrapped around him, but as soon as Kotsur won SAG it was over. Gleeson doesn’t have the performance to overcome Quan’s comeback narrative and Hirsch is still a 5 minute performance.
