Stephanie Hsu is so in. Yeoh and Quan are locks. Curtis would be an amazing nominee too but quite a long shot. Hong is impossible but I hope he gets an Honorary Oscar.

I am honestly surprised at people not being confident in Stephanie Hsu’s chances. I actually have her in my Top 3, and now with Lily Gladstone gone, I doubt she leaves my Top 3. Her relationship with Yeoh is the central emotional heart of the film. Her scene at the end with Yeoh is the cathartic release the entire film is building towards. She is sensational in that scene (let’s be honest, we all were BAWLING), but she is also incredible in the rest of the film.

The passion for EEAAO is through the roof. The film has universal critical acclaim, massive box office numbers, and incredible audience passion. I don’t see how Hsu misses.

I don’t have the confidence to put in Hsu just yet because her narrative just isn’t as strong as Yeoh’s and Kwan’s. That being said, narrative talk has been proven wrong time and time again. I would certainly be thrilled if she made it in.

I feel like Hsu’s early buzz could lead her to an Octavia Spencer-like sweep.

Until more info comes out on either or both films, I’m reserving 3 slots in this category for She Said and Women Talking. And with Michelle Williams in good position for another slot, that leaves one truly wide open.

Foy and Mara will have the material at the very least, although that’s no guarantee. But still, a nomination for Foy just seems extremely timely and she has the role. If anyone could be left off, I’d bet on Mara before her.

I’m still not convinced on the supporting chances for Babylon though. I want to see the trailer first.

Li Jun Li plays Anna May Wong in Babylon and has at least 3 terrific scenes so it could be her instead of Jean Smart

Agreed. I read somewhere that Jean Smart’s role isn’t as significant as some seem to be expecting.

Sometimes I wonder if we’re living in the universe where Jamie Lee Curtis is the ONLY acting nom for Everything Everywhere All at Once

I hope/think the Globes will kick start Angela’s chances of being in the Top 5.

I would absolutely love Jaime Lee Curtis finally getting the recognition she deserves. He last major nomination for anything was Scream Queens in 2016. She deserves more accolades. I’m also here for Angela Bassett making an appearance. We all know she was robbed the last time she was nominated.
