FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.
September 14, 2022 at 9:28 am #1205083447After Tár reviews I didn’t see any mentions to Nina Hoss but I was thinking yesterday and she makes sense as a nominee, especially if Tár is a Best Picture nominee and Cate could win Best Actress too.
September 14, 2022 at 9:31 am #1205083451This is going to end up being a category where I wish all of them were getting first-time Oscars.

September 14, 2022 at 9:46 am #1205083471I am hoping we have two nominations for Everything Everywhere all at Once for Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu.
September 14, 2022 at 10:10 am #1205083519I still have Morton in for now, but it feels like She Said could be at risk of striking out here depending on how the film is received. Lots of Best Picture contenders in the mix here, and most could comfortably stay ahead of She Said. And I’m not counting out some passion votes for standouts in some of the crowdpleasers like Janelle Monae and (I hope) Angela Bassett.
September 14, 2022 at 10:45 am #1205083556My predictions as of this day, 14th of September.
01. Claire Foy, Women Talking
02. Michelle Williams, The Fabelmans
03. Jean Smart, Babylon
04. Nina Hoss, TÁR
05. Hong Chau, The Whale / Jessie Buckley, Women TalkingAlt. Samantha Morton, She Said
Only confident about Foy and Williams, of course.Â
With the others, I get the gist Smart has the love of the industry right now from Emmys and her overall vet status. We all love these types of characters even in minimal screentime.
With the way the category is right now, even if Babylon underperforms, I could still see her getting a spot here.
Going ahead and predicting coattails for Hoss and Chau, but with the totally possible Buckley coming in if Women Talking becomes a steamroller (which I honestly think it has the possibility of doing.) Let’s just say Chau isn’t necessarily Marisa Tomei, but if she could come in on Rourke’s wave in 2008, I don’t see why Chau (or maybe even Morton, considering She Said as well) couldn’t. Setting with Chau simply due to reactions, and because I’m worried She Said could really be left in the dust, but wouldn’t be surprised if Morton wasn’t.

September 14, 2022 at 6:41 pm #1205084206Are Dern and Kirby done?
Once there was only Dark. If you ask me, the Light's winning.
September 14, 2022 at 6:46 pm #1205084211Are Dern and Kirby done?
I’d say yes. Getting Jackman in feels like the ceiling here and the film isn’t really making a strong case for namechecking Dern.
September 14, 2022 at 7:05 pm #1205084240The Son seems so dead now, I can’t believe this was like “Hugh, Laura, Vanessa, Zen and Florian are going to be nominate” and now probably just Hugh has a chance and even him could get snub.
