What’s this campaign for Monae? She didn’t do anything special in the movie worth recognition.
January 21, 2023 at 9:38 pm #1205256949Thank you for mentioning JANET McTEER!!!
A queen. She is to me what Toni Collette is to other people. I think she acts so well that she rarely gets credit as she truly disappears into her characters.

There are people who think that Nina Hoss deserves to be nominated. 😂
January 21, 2023 at 9:47 pm #1205256959and this is why the music forum
shouldn’t be speaking on film!
We’re not allowed to have favorites? I like Janelle I think she’s a good actress and she’s been snubbed by the Academy for roles that I think she SHOULD have gotten recognition for. So please, fuck off. 🙂
January 21, 2023 at 9:48 pm #1205256961I give EEAAO it’s flowers for directing and editing. Yeah, sorry I’m not drinking the Koolaid and thinking it was spectacular. It’s your average Sci Fi Multiverse film. Very average at that. We also know you love Cha Cha Real Smooth, and I don’t call you out over it for saying Dakota Johnson should be nominated over JLC. Kate Hudson!? Honey, you really hated JLC Huh LMAO. I definitely wouldn’t put Hudson over JLC. Zoe Kravitz!? She’s the worst part about The Batman. I’ll give you Samantha Morton though. Wished she had more to do and more screentime in She Said. I couldn’t get enough of her.
I’m not forcing you to agree with me on anything or questioning your opinion, I just pointed out that I already knew that was your opinion. And you can disagree with anything I said, but in the end it’s tastes and preferences and I’m very sure of mine. I think Dakota Johnson is fantastic in Cha Cha as I think Kate Hudson is luminous in Glass Onion, a performance full of charm, I think Zoe Kravitz is magnetic as catwoman and that’s just my opinion. And it’s not that I hate Jamie Lee Curtis or the performance, but I think it’s all industry-manufactured buzz for a performance that is nothing more than cute. Just that.

She was absolutely hysterical in some of her more comedic line delivery
January 22, 2023 at 2:30 am #1205257081Hong Chau was nominated at LFCC, so I don’t think she was entirely a jury pick at BAFTA since there is usually overlap between the two organizations and BAFTA showed quite a bit of love to The Whale. Overall I think she’s 4th because The Whale is surging at the moment. It’s the 5th slot that’s difficult to predict between Hsu and Dolly de Leon. The former made it in SAG and is also surging at the moment while the latter experienced a lot of buzz in the beginning of the season with her LAFCA win and Golden Globes nomination. It’s a total toss-up between the two.

i think is weird that the whale miss the top 10 in picture having 4 no jury nominations(being 3 above the lines). 2 above the lines no jury nominations makes more sense to me

January 22, 2023 at 9:10 am #1205257517My final predictions:
Angela Bassett, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Jessie Buckley, Women Talking
Kerry Condon, The Banshees of Inisherin
Jamie Lee Curtis, Everything Everywhere All At Once
Stephanie Hsu, Everything Everywhere All At OnceMy final wish list:
Jessie Buckley, Women Talking
Kerry Condon, The Banshees of Inisherin
Judith Ivey, Women Talking
Rooney Mara, Women Talking
Thuso Mbedu, The Woman KingI have the least confidence in my predictions in this category of any of the acting categories. Hong Chau, Dolly DeLeon, Janelle Monae and Carey Mulligan could all get in to the lineup. Buckley and Hsu are the ones I feel shaky about predicting…
