    I’m ready to be horribly wrong. I am every year.

    CMIIW since statistics is not my forte.

    But considering the increased rate of voters turnout this year, I am not expecting that many surprises and am expecting a more consensus choice that more or less reflect precursor awards and big studios’ interests.

    It’s said this year the announcement via screens and pictures will return, are they going to read them for every single category? Because when this system was in use they only read the major 10, with the exception of 1 or 2 years around 2014-2015.

    Rooting for my little movie

    FYC:
    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
    The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
    Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.

    Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

    So it’s seven hours from now?

    I just love movies. And awards.

    I’m hoping for:

    – Park Chan-wook in Director; Decision to Leave overperformance
    – Deadwyler in Actress
    – Hsu in Supporting Actress
    GDL’s Pinocchio or Marcel in Screenplay
    Tár in Cinematography
    Glass Onion in Production Design
    EEAAO for Costumes and Score
    – “New Body Rhumba” in Song
    Nope in VFX

    Rooting for EEAAO, Pinocchio, Avatar, and TGM among popular films. Hoping for Elvis and Fabelmans to underwhelm.

    Spielberg nor Cameron is in my director predictions. That’s the big limb I’m going out on. I know Spielberg is most likely in but I’m doing something crazy.

    Not crazy at all- in fact, that’s why they call them SNUBS. I actually think Spielberg has had bad luck in the past with the academy, notably The Color Purple getting 11 nominations but not citing him in directing. And in modern film, though he got in for Lincoln- the movie drastically underperformed once the Argo wave came in.

    I am thinking RRR is in best pic and director, so that’s my big bet. I like that you’re taking chances- if you’re not right, at least you thought outside the box. And if you ARE right, what a rush!

    Yeah, no guts no glory. I have the All Quiet director as my “foreign director” pick.
