I’d love to know what percentage of those who voted on the nominations actually saw Deadwyler’s performance. I’m willing to bet that more voters watched each one of the films the Best Actress nominees were in, INCLUDING “To Leslie,” than saw “Till.”
This. It’s easier for people to watch “White Trauma than “Black Trauma”

True, but also, “Till” didn’t get the distribution it deserved. I wonder if Deadwyler would have gotten in had “Till” been on Netflix and more easily available to voters. (I know AMPAS members can view contenders on the Academy’s platform or via screeners but I’m told that many find it easier to view movies on Netflix.)

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 24, 2023 at 8:28 am #1205263003It’s mad how Bassett is actually gonna default to an Oscar win. I don’t mind though – amazing actress. Same goes for how I don’t mind JLC getting a long overdue nomination even if the performance aint it.

So happy for some though. Way to go Living. Bill, screenplay….
