Also it’s worth considering that with “Legacy Sequels” kind of looking like the future of hollywood, I think there’s a lot of respect in the industry for how well TG:M built on the decades old original while updating it to to something that could be so successful in the present day.

my only concern it’s not writtten bu the director which the screenplay category is trending recently unless it wins bp like argo and 12 years a slave

That’s the impression I get. It also feels consistent with Wakanda Forever’s nom, since that looks like the guild giving credit to Coogler for reworking the story under very difficult circumstances. Obviously pickings were a little more slim in the lineup because of what wasn’t eligible but there’s 3 big-budget sequels in the Adapted category this year. I think Women Talking will have a harder time at WGA than it might have at the Oscars just given what they’ve gone for in recent years.

    Succession for Outstanding Drama Series

WGA ate the Academy right on up with their nominations.

i’d love it if ishiguro won.

it’d be interesting if decades after remains of the day, its director won in writing, then a few years later, the novelist of that movie’s source material won in writing.

Feeling like Field could win Original screenplay. Especially if Yeoh takes Actress and they want to reward its most acclaimed aspect aside from Blanchett.

If EEAAO was strong enough to knock out Blanchett in Actress, I’d say it’s much more likely than they’d win Original Screenplay too.

Waiting until BAFTA and WGA make things clearer, but right now I kinda feel like EEAAO is third for screenplay since that was an area where it has received criticism.

Todd Field did win NSFC and LAFCA so I feel like he shouldn’t be counted out just yet.

if tar’s sole win is for writing, that’d be fine.
