I wish Disney would date it already
March 21, 2023 at 5:11 pm #1205359079probably going to be one of these 5
the winner of Best Animated Feature in 2024 will probably be either How Do You Live or Spider-Verse 2

Fair comparison but this movie looks far more promising. As a director Brady Corbet can’t compare to David Lowery, who has enormous technical competence and great works in his repertoire such as A Ghost Story and The Green Knight. Lowery has surrealist/fantasy flourishes that go well with musicals, and he borders on camp which makes perfect sense for a love story between a pop star and a fashion designer.
Anne Hathaway is a much better singer than Natalie Portman. And lastly, Charli XCX is a pop star in her own right who pushes the boundaries of pop music forward, and I’m sure she will bring personality to Hathaway’s character songs, rather than creating generic material like Sia did for Vox Lux, who btw doesn’t even compose good music for herself.March 22, 2023 at 10:32 pm #1205360676Will “Barbie” go into adapted or original screenplay category?

I’m guessing adapted since there have been previous Barbie movies and products with stories.

I’ve just been told about two other movies that have a fighting chance.
They Shot the Piano Player
The Peasants
both of these movies are from filmmakers that have been nominated before.

Also, is Wildwood being released this year? (It’s Director/producer— Travis Knight/Laika— have 3 prior nominations for Best Animated Feature Film.)

Dear @DorianAwards Voters,
This is your March reminder that we need to nominate Margo Martindale in Cocaine Bear. I will be continuing this #ToLeslieCampaign until voting closes. pic.twitter.com/aOjnPUoeQm— Matthew Huff (@HuffMatt) March 23, 2023
March 24, 2023 at 6:42 am #1205362253This substack article by Sasha Stone gives you a good sense of her current thinking: https://sashastone.substack.com/p/the-best-film-of-the-year-that-wont#details
(I love the fact that she calls herself an Oscar expert yet she finished dead LAST among Gold Derby’s 33 experts, correctly predicting less than half of the winners, 8,895 out of 10,864 prognosticators.)
“And so “Woke Hollywood” was born.”
“It would only get worse by 2020, after the Great Awokening in the Summer. By now, equity has easily beaten merit and the public was starting to notice. They couldn’t stand being lectured to by Hollywood elites, especially at awards shows.”
“Their primary mission seems to be to drive propaganda to audiences, the kind of thing that so many Conservatives feared back in the 1940s and 50s about Communism. Now it’s not only happening but it’s almost mandated.Jaws turned out to be a foreshadowing of the 1980 election. It wouldn’t be that surprising that five years later America would abandon the Left almost completely and vote for Ronald Reagan whose strong leadership was something everyone, by then, craved.”
“But Jaws didn’t win Best Picture either. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest won instead, the ultimate movie about a lost man. Could the embrace of Top Gun Maverick be a foreshadowing of our future as we all begin to seek the strong leadership we’ve been missing?”
Ronald Reagan? Strong leadership? This is bonkers. I can’t believe this is real lmfao. How tone deaf can you be? Accusing Hollywood of Propaganda when you’re a hardcore right-winger posting this garbage online?
