So, we’re already in denial about Cooper I see. Lol.
I’m not surprised. People on this forum hate Cooper, so they obviously won’t predict him even though he is clearly the frontrunner
ReplyCopy URLMarch 28, 2023 at 11:25 pm #1205367677I have Cooper, DiCaprio, Domingo, and Murphy as my top four, and I did have Jonathan Majors in the last slot, but after this week I decided to replace him with… Adam Sandler for Spaceman. Probably wishful thinking on my part, but you never know

Everyone else is literally happy-with-the-nomination situations.
People thought similarly about Hugh Jackman last year until Venice

Hugh Jackman didn’t have 9 academy award nominations, and he wasn’t in a film that was produced by both Scorsese and Spielberg. Even if the film ends up being shit, Cooper has a much better shot than Hugh because he is playing one of the greatest conductors of all time and he is very overdue for an oscar

I like him even if he’s not my favorite actor. I never found him bad, but very good most of the time and great in some occasions (Nightmare Alley bombed, but he’s great in it).
I don’t get this disdain either. They are sooooooo muuuuuch worse than him. Yeah we’ve been seeing him a lot since the end of 2000’s, but he still has a huge aura of sympathy. If he really deserves to win, what the deal ?

Sean Penn and Josh Brolin both have a past history of domestic violence and went on to be nominated for the same movie (and Penn won his second Oscar).

Agree on Josh Brolin, but he wasn’t even who I was talking about, so it’s kind of a moot point.
I wasn’t talking about him, but as for Sean Penn, on the other hand… https://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/dec/18/madonna-says-sean-penn-never-hit-her-as-she-offers-evidence-for-her-ex-husband
And I’d be on the safe side if I were you in regards to calling Penn “abusive” – https://www.theguardian.com/film/2016/may/04/lee-daniels-apologizes-sean-penn-allegations-abuse-madonna
Comparing Penn’s situation to the Majors’ one isn’t very wise…
