Of course. There’s honestly no particular rhyme or reason to it confidence-wise because it’s so early in the season, but as for Winslet, I have her second because of the biopic factor and the fact that it seems to be a very baity role. She also seems to, anecdotally, have some goodwill from Mare of Easttown. For Lange, she’s playing a role that won her the Tony during the Broadway production, for which she was very acclaimed. It’s also been a long time since her last nomination and she’s seemed like a veteran actress who would return once she had the right vehicle and I think this could be it; the only thing that gives me slight pause at the moment is the director. As for King, she has a baity/socially relevant Netflix biopic role and I think she can get an afterglow nomination following her Oscar win. I also think there’s a lot of people rooting for her right now, considering her unfortunate personal circumstances. I understand there’s been chatter on the film itself being middling, but I think as long as King herself is well-received, she could make it in as a lone nom (which is common for biopics vis-a-vis awards anyway). And as for Bening, biopic factor again and the fact that she’s overdue and in a Netflix vehicle — which makes one wonder whether they’ll prioritize her or King? All in all, I think these four women are all interchangeable in some manner, but this is my current thought process.

According to IMDb, the movie is still being filmed and this article seems to confirm that as of March 13th, there was still additional filming to be done:
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/news/23395870.44932-passes-kings-langley-ahead-blitz-filming/UPDATE: IMDb was updated today: Blitz wrapped filming this week and is now in post production.
It’s still unclear to me whether McQueen’s film can be ready in time for the awards season. I imagine that a movie about the blitz will need at least some special effects, and given that they are finally releasing Killers of the Flower Moon this year, Apple might want to hold Blitz over until next year. We’ll all just have to wait and see if Saoirse Ronan will be in this year’s awards race, but it seems more likely today than it was yesterday.

Would she have? I don’t even think she was second last year, I’m guessing Cruz was ahead of her, and Chastain had the Makeup + Actress combo.

April 2, 2023 at 12:38 am #1205374185Past Lives will be a big player come awards season. Rooting for Greta Lee. John Magaro is also reported to be a standout in the film so that’s a very strong Actress-Supp. Actor combo.

Yes she would if the movie were a best picture contender. Golden Globe drama win+ only contender in her weak category from a best picture nominee(that has other acting nominations too)+ “overdue for a second win” veteran narrative in an iconic role= easy win..in theory at least

Annette Bening and Kate Winslet are literally in the same boat as Cate Blanchett who swept last year in terms of industry status.
oh i know what i meant is critics in general don’t like biopics unless they are like The queen or spencer i mean even Oldman won with them so yeah it all depends of the reception of the movie
