Colman Domingo is perfectly cast as Mister in The Color Purple. He has potential to be a double nominee. This role doesn’t scream “winner”. Especially compared to Rustin. But I think he could at least receive a nomination.

Need to wish this into the world, John Magaro will be Oscar nomination for Past Lives. Reminder that Magaro’s performance in First Cow is one of the most beautiful portrayals of male vulnerability ever shown on screen.

    Next in line
    Jeremy Strong, Bernstein

FYI. The movie is now called Maestro and Jeremy Strong, and the character he was cast to play, Bernstein biographer John Gruen, were written out of the movie. (Reportedly, scenes with Strong were never filmed.) The main supporting male role in the movie is played by Matt Bomer, who portrays a musician that was one of Bernstein’s lovers.

    Why do you think this?

Because he would be typecast as Ken.

This is not his first rodeo. With his track record, an Oscar for an out of the box role won’t lead to him suddenly losing the kinds of roles he’s played before. If anything, it might lead to him being cast in more diverse roles than before.

No part of his manhood is threatened just because he stars as a doll in a female-helmed movie lol.
