So I know that it is extremely early and some posters like to post in these early threads about how it is too early to predict and that these threads are pointless at this stage. I however, love these threads. I hope there are others as well. This thread is about any early predictions that posters have or discussion of contenders. I’m going to start with some predictions, these predictions will probably be crazy come December but it will be good to look back on. George Clooney is no where near the lead of Hail Caesar! Josh Brolin is the only lead

Hail Cesear is gonna make it in (or at least Josh Brolin). It has a Coen brothers, a star studded cast, and critics like it

Give Paul Thomas Anderson an Oscar.

I wonder if Denis Villeneuve’s reboot of Blade Runner will be in time for these? Very nice for Harrison Ford, in any event.

If Comedy Actress looks like how it is now, Meryl Streep has this.

I’m not so sure about that. Emma Stone has two previous GG nominations and she is still in that starlet period of her career that the HFPA loves to reward. La La Land was also moved to a December release making everyone think it’s an Oscar film so at this point the film and its stars are probably the comedy/musical front-runners.
